Starting with a sequence honouring Duke Ellington, Ilan Volkov and the 91Èȱ¬ Scottish Symphony Orchestra celebrate milestones from the past 100 years of American jazz. They are joined on stage by the Aaron Diehl Trio and soloists.

Ryan Wigglesworth conducts the 91Èȱ¬ Scottish Symphony Orchestra in Brahms’s Third Symphony and Schoenberg’s sumptuous tone-poem Verklärte Nacht, before mezzo-soprano Alice Coote lends her glowing voice to Mahler’s devastating Kindertotenlieder.
