It was only in January that Scunthorpe duo Ruen Brothers submitted their track Aces to the 91Èȱ¬ Introducing Uploader. Following loyal support from Alan Raw and 91Èȱ¬ Introducing on Radio Humberside, the track was picked up by Radio 1’s Zane Lowe as his Next Hype.
Brothers Henry and Rupert Stansall were then whisked in the 91Èȱ¬â€™s Maida Vale studios for an Introducing session and then began earning their gigging spurs up and down the country and even at South By Southwest Festival and last June they went down a storm on our stage at Glastonbury.
The brothers’ rise has been as sharp as the suits they wear and their reinvention of early '60s beat music is hugely endearing, reminding many of the theatrics and musical drama of Roy Orbison. After years of covers ranging The Hollies and Johnny Cash to Kings of Leon and The Killers in North Lincolnshire, they now strike out on their own.
