Thea Musgrave’s choral music is amongst the most original and colourful in the contemporary choral repertoire and this concert includes a representative selection – ranging from her early, vigorous, vision of the Nativity and the Resurrection in Rorate Coeli (setting words by the medieval Scottish poet William Dunbar), through her charming, witty and often humorous settings of verse from Transport for London’s anthology On the Underground, to her most recent choral work – a luminous setting of C P Cavafy’s famous poem Ithaca.
