Nigerian saxophonist, vocalist and “Afrobeat warrior” Seun Kuti is the youngest son of the legendary Fela Kuti.
Following Fela Kuti’s death in 1997, Seun was initially criticised as being “arrogant” for fronting his father’s band Egypt 80 at the age of 14. Seun hasn’t looked back though and has since forged his own inimitable brand of Afrobeat with topical lyrics and contemporary influences giving it a modern twist.
With his new critically acclaimed album A Long Way To The Beginning out now on Knitting Factory Records and “FELA LIVES” tattooed across his back, Seun declares: “This is the beginning of the reign of Afrobeat music.”
Building on the success of a brilliant 2009 Park Stage performance, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 return to Glastonbury to bring their message of “change in Africa” to the West Holts Stage.
