The Radio Platform Sessions highlights some of Wales’ best emerging rap talent
Mace The Great
Bringing energetic Grime influenced music with an infectious flow, Cardiff's Mace The Great has gone from strength to strength in the last year. Mace released a number of singles in 2020 which all made a huge impact in Wales and further. His single 'Brave' was the first song selected as part of DJ Target's Cardiff Takeover on 91Èȱ¬ Radio 1xtra whilst his next single 'Established' was selected as 91Èȱ¬ Introducing Track of the Week on 91Èȱ¬ Radio 1xtra as well gaining countless plays on 91Èȱ¬ Radio Wales. With a new project teased for 2021, it looks set to be another huge year for the Splott-based artist.
Luke RV
Neath's finest. Luke RV in the last two years has gone from a promising artist within the Welsh music scene to being considered one of the finest artists Wales has to offer. His EP 'Valley Boy' was nominated for the Welsh Music Prize 2020 and then he followed that up with the release of his album 'Going Nowhere'. Having worked with the likes of Local, Mace The Great & Grim Sickers to name a few, Luke has forged a unique sound with his main producer Minas which is influenced by a host of genres including Hip-Hop, Grime, Garage and Pop music.
³§´Ü°ÂÉ
An artist who has come to the attention of many within the last year, Cwmbran-based ³§´Ü°ÂÉ has gone from strength to strength delivering as a versatile artist crossing a wide range of genres. His single 'Shaky' was played by Huw Stephens on 91Èȱ¬ Radio 1 and a number of his songs have been aired across 91Èȱ¬ Radio Wales. His EP 'Enter The Dragon' was released late last year and was a true representation of the work and growth that ³§´Ü°ÂÉ has shown, a highlight being the powerful visuals for 'No Justice No Peace'. 2021 sees ³§´Ü°ÂÉ looking to build on this momentum and with a host of festival bookings already announced, it looks set to be another ground-breaking year for the artist.
