The 91Èȱ¬ Symphony Orchestra and conductor Sakari Oramo present two lyrical works. Elgar's Violin Concerto is elegiac in tune as a reprise of the late romantic tone of the 20th century - the Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang has the grace, the technical sovereignty and the great breath that the solo part demands. Beethoven’s Pastoral, on the other hand, is idyllic and hymn-like. In the finale of the symphony, in which, according to the movement's title, a musical "thanks to the deity" is formulated, the composer's religious veneration of nature is expressed. The fourth movement forms the dramatic counterpoint with its impressive thunderstorm scene.
