We then turn to Shostakovich鈥檚 terrifying, desperate and dark tenth symphony, which is ultimately triumphant in the face of impossible horrors. Considered by most to be a depiction of Stalin鈥檚 rule of Russia, it is testament to the composer鈥檚 legacy chronicling one of the most turbulent reigns in recent history, inspiring in its ability to find optimism in the bleakest of situations. An exhilarating end to the 21-22 season.
