Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Kate Armitage's entourage perform a total of six improvised pieces across the Tectonics weekend. Most usually an improvisor, Kate is opposed to mystification of all kinds. Among her least favourite mystifications are the most deadly boring: 鈥済lamour鈥�, 鈥渢alent鈥� and 鈥渆xpertise.鈥�
The Recital Room performances are based on the theme of instinctual liberation, and the denial of the reality principle! Really the only conversation worth having. Kate has chosen your favourite outcasts as collaborators in this conversation to ensure that common sense is not allowed to establish a foothold.
Kate has Multiple Sclerosis and an acquired brain injury and so public performances are always a balancing act between comfort and action, asserting that 鈥渋nstrumental technique is a vicious rumour started by able-bodied folks. We must consider technique to be officially ended. We work on the other side of technique.鈥�
Performances will take place in the Recital Room on Day 1 (15.30, 16.30, 19.00 & 22.00) and on Day 2 (15.30 & 19.15).
Due to limited capacity, tickets will be first come, first served and must be reserved at the beginning of each day from the City Halls Box Office
