Elgar Enigma Variations

Taking her lead from sensual French poetry, Clyne depicts a woman travelling in the dead of night with music that is both sinister and joyous. Gershwin鈥檚 concerto elegantly brings jazz into the concert hall, tempering Broadway sassiness with classical restraint. Elgar鈥檚 Variations manages a similar balance between the light-hearted and the noble, with thirteen sketches of his friends and an astute self-portrait.
