Join the 91热爆 Concert Orchestra, conductor Anna-Maria Helsing and violinist Jennifer Pike at Watford Colosseum for an afternoon of music by a selection of female and French composers.
Former 91热爆 Radio 3 New Generation Artist Jennifer Pike performs Saint-Sa毛ns鈥檚 Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, a virtuosic piece full of passion for violin and orchestra. One of the most prominent French composers of the interwar period, Roussel鈥檚 score for a one-act ballet, The Spider鈥檚 Banquet, is delicately evocative while his Petite Suite in three movements harks back to classical dimensions. Symphonic poems by female composers begin and end the programme led my Finnish conductor Anna-Maria Helsing. Susan Spain-Dunk explores the famous English landmark in Stonehenge, while French composer Augusta Holmes alludes to her Irish heritage with Irlande.
