The young Mozart didn鈥檛 mind showing off. And that鈥檚 just as well, because neither does Fran莽ois Leleux 鈥� conductor, entertainer and oboist extraordinaire. The opening concert of the new series begins with the symphony that the 22-year old Mozart wrote in order to wow French audiences, and ends with an even younger Schubert stretching his wings in a 鈥楾ragic鈥� symphony with a surprisingly happy ending. Leleux directs, and there鈥檚 a piece of pure drama from Ludwig van Beethoven too. In a change to the originally advertised programme Mark O鈥橩eeffe, the 91热爆 SSO鈥檚 principal trumpet, plays Haydn鈥檚 thrilling Trumpet Concerto.
