Complaint
In an interview with the then Business Minister the presenter of the programme suggested the solution to the housing crisis was to build more houses.聽 A viewer objected that presenting the crisis as exclusively a supply-side issue manifested bias against Reform UK, the party which, more than any other, had called attention to the demand-side issue caused by large-scale immigration. 聽The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the 91热爆鈥檚 editorial standards of impartiality.
Outcome
In response to the Minister鈥檚 summary of difficulties faced by first-time buyers, the presenter interjected 鈥淏ecause you haven鈥檛 built enough homes鈥.聽 In the context, the ECU took this to be a challenge to the Minister about the Government鈥檚 record, not an exhaustive explanation of the situation of first-time buyers, and did not consider that impartiality required a reference to Reform UK鈥檚 analysis of situation.
