This basic education has given Thida opportunities that she never knew existed. She now plans to attend high school and dreams of training as a teacher.
The generous support of Radio 4 listeners raised an incredible £52,000 for United World Schools in July 2017.
Our Appeal told the story of Thida, a young girl from a remote, indigenous community in Cambodia. Thida’s life was transformed when UWS opened a school in her village and trained members of her community as teachers. Finally, Thida had a chance to attend school and learn to speak, read and write in the national language. This basic education has given Thida opportunities that she never knew existed. She now plans to attend high school and dreams of training as a teacher.
Funds raised through our 91热爆 Appeal have been used to support hundreds more children like Thida with a primary education. Specifically, donations have been used to buy textbooks and resources, and train hundreds of teachers to improve the quality of education across our schools.
For children like Thida, the chance to go to school is about more than literacy and numeracy; it is a chance to escape poverty and improve the lives of entire families. Thank you to everyone who supported our Appeal and helped us to give more children like Thida this life-changing opportunity.
