“We help veterans with health challenges transform their lives by finding the right jobs in their own communities. It is not an easy path, but The Poppy Factory is there every step of the way.”

The response to The Poppy Factory’s Radio 4 appeal was tremendous, with listeners contributing £10,525. A huge thank you to everyone who gave their support - these funds will help change the lives of some of the most vulnerable veterans.

The men and women supported by The Poppy Factory have typically been out of the Armed Forces for over ten years and they face significant barriers to employment. They are, for different reasons, really struggling in life. Most are dealing with mental health challenges, often alongside a range of complex physical conditions.

The Poppy Factory supports these veterans long-term to help them find the right jobs in their own communities. We help them to thrive in the civilian workplace, significantly improving their confidence, health and wellbeing. Over 83% of our veterans are still in their jobs after three months and if life throws in more obstacles, The Poppy Factory will still be there. It is not an easy path but our support is there every step of the way.

RAF veteran Fraser, who began a new career as a property valuer, said: “I’d been looking at jobs that were similar to ones I’d had in the past. But a lot of the physical flare-ups I’d been having were linked to stress. The job is perfect for me now. It’s a really good environment and I’m enjoying the work. If I hadn’t contacted The Poppy Factory, I would never have had this opportunity.”

Our advisers are based all over England and Wales, supporting veterans face to face in their own communities. The funds raised through the Radio 4 appeal will help us meet the ongoing demand for our employability service and continue to provide life-changing support for the most vulnerable veterans.
