“They have saved my life. Honestly anyone who is able please do support, I can't thank Refugee Action and their supporters enough."
Everyone at Refugee Action would like to say the biggest thanks to the incredible listeners of Radio 4 for showing their warmth and kindness towards refugees. Together, you raised a phenomenal £36,801 to support people seeking safety in the UK.
By supporting Refugee Action in this appeal, you have shown those seeking safety that they aren’t alone. Often when people arrive here, having left behind everything they’ve ever known, they end up isolated, destitute, and at risk of homelessness. The effects of having fled war and persecution, leaving behind family and friends, and then facing these crises in the UK causes people to lose hope. Your money will mean people can access our vital services, providing people seeking asylum with the support they need to escape living in crisis and access basic essentials, such as enough money to buy food and a safe place to sleep. It will mean someone is on the end of the phone when no one else is there to help. Your money will give people hope again.
Zama, whose story of homelessness and poverty was shared in the appeal, wanted to share a message with the listeners of Radio 4: "Thank you for letting me speak out. Please keep doing what you're doing, it saves lives. They [Refugee Action] need to keep supporting people. There are so many people out there that could benefit from them, they are saving lives. They have saved my life. Honestly anyone who is able please do support, I can't thank Refugee Action and their supporters enough."
We also want to say thank you to Shaparak Khorsandi for presenting the appeal on behalf of Refugee Action. Her openness to share her family’s story about arriving in the UK as refugees clearly resonated with listeners, many of whom wrote in to tell us how grateful they were to hear Shaparak share a small part of her story.
Once again, thank you to everyone who supported Refugee Action in this appeal. If you’d like to hear more stories about the impact of your gift, please .
