Since Crimestoppers began in 1988, it has received over 1.9 million actionable calls, resulting in more than 144,000 arrests and charges, over £136 million worth of stolen goods have been recovered and over £346 million worth of illegal drugs have been seized".
Crimestoppers would like to say a huge thank you to all Radio 4 listeners who so generously donated to our appeal and raised £6,161. Donations raised from this appeal will go towards ensuring a member of our highly trained team is always on the end of the line to listen and pass on information which could make all the difference in solving a crime and keeping people safe. Everyday our call agents take information on all kinds of crimes across the country including domestic abuse, modern day slavery, knife crime, hate crime and child sexual exploitation.
Whilst our service is anonymous our charity shouldn’t be and we enjoyed the challenge of raising awareness of our independent charity status amongst the general public. Crimestoppers exists to help the most vulnerable in our communities ‘speak up.’ Our 0800 555 111 telephone number and website crimestoppers-uk.org gives people the power to pass on information about crime 100% anonymously. In over 30 years, we have always kept this promise.
Thanks to all of you who listened and donated to our appeal, whilst we hope you’ll never need our services remember we are here for you to report crime 100% anonymously, 24/7, 365 days a year.
