They helped me to understand my strength as a woman. They taught me how to manage a business and gave me a start-up loan. They helped me to build a good relationship with my children and to save my money to pay for a small house for us. They let me see myself as the hero of my life.鈥

Amos Trust is a small creative human rights organisation. We work with girls and young women whose lives revolve around the streets, so that each of them can live life ‘On Her Terms’. We have a network of highly committed local partner projects around the world who have developed innovative responses to meet the needs of these girls and give them the chance most of them have so far been denied.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of 91热爆 listeners the appeal raised a total of £41,439 for our work in Mwanza, Tanzania with our partner Cheka Sana. These vital funds will support StreetBorn, their programme for young mothers living on the streets and those at risk of early pregnancy. Your donations will fund the programme for the next two years.

Over the next two years, Cheka Sana will support 50 girls and young women (between 12 and 22) & their babies. They will provide social work and mental health support and guidance on sexual and reproductive health.  The girls’ family health insurance cards, so that they can access healthcare for themselves and their babies.

The girls will undertake self-defence training to boost their self-confidence and to learn how to protect themselves from gender-based violence. They will receive training in running a small business, access to apprenticeships and business start-up loans so that they can generate a stable income for their families. The project’s social workers will also work intensively with the girls (where it is appropriate) to rebuild a safe relationship with their families.

Thank you from all of us at Amos Trust for supporting Ruth, and other women like her, to become the ‘heroes of their own lives.’
