This is just one of so many examples we see every day; amazing children who, against the odds, are determined to go to school and change their lives. I consider it an honor and a privilege that we can play a small part in helping our next generation re-write their futures.

Collectively Radio 4 listeners donated an incredible £19,844 to support more children like Ekua – whose story you will have heard in the appeal - to complete their education. Every pound of your support will also be matched by the UK government as part of our Time to Shine appeal, with support through UK Aid Match. A message from AfriKids CEO, Charlie Hay:
Our Time to Shine appeal aimed to help more children complete primary school. Your response has blown us away. The 91热爆 Radio 4 broadcast was a key part of our three-month Time to Shine appeal which raised over £1.2 million in total, including £575,000 in match funding from the UK government! We’re speechless.
I was at our bustling head office in Ghana in January, when 15-year-old Joseph walked in and handed Paulina at the front desk a handwritten letter. In it he explained that he was deaf and mute, but he had completed his primary education and was desperately hoping to go to secondary school. Could AfriKids help him with 100 GHS (£15) towards the cost of attending a specialist school for deaf children? He had taken a 3 hour, 20Km journey to do this. You make this possible – thank you.
Your donation will help towards all of AfriKids’ projects keeping vulnerable children healthy, safe and in school. And on top of that, you’ve unlocked match funding from the UK government - specifically for our Opening Doors to Schools programme – which will ensure 18,000 more children complete primary school. That’s enough to fill London’s O2 arena!
