If you've been wanting a handy little tool to keep track of where you're up to whilst reading our Blue Peter Book Club recommendations, then we have the perfect craft for you! Find out how to make our super simple and cool customised bookmark by following our easy steps below.

The whole thing can be made in just a few minutes with only a few bits and bobs that you might already have in your home!

Step 1:ÌýGet an A4 piece of paper, origami paper can help make things easier, but it's not essential.

Fold the bottom left corner over to the top right corner, making a pointed triangular shape. You will have two long sides sticking out, but should be able to spot the triangle in the middle.

Next, grab your scissors and with help from an adult, cut away the sides from the paper, leaving you with just the triangle.

Make sure you don’t throw away your offcuts, as you can use this later to accessorise and decorate your origami character bookmark!

Step 2:ÌýNow it's time to make the space for your character's face on your bookmark. We’re going to make Henry’s face in our example, but you can choose any design you like!

To make your character's face shape, put your paper in front of you so that it looks like a diamond. Now fold the diamond in half to create a triangle shape. We’ll call the corners of the triangle our 'wings'. Fold the left wing up into to the top point of the triangle.

Repeat the same with the right wing creating a smaller diamond. Once, you have made the crease, you can then unfold the wings to return to the triangle shape.

Step 3:ÌýTake the top corner of the triangle, using just the top layer of paper, fold it down to the bottom of the triangle, so the top point of the triangle now touches the middle of the paper. We'll call this the bridge.

Run your fingers over the line to create the crease.

Grab the bottom right corner on your triangle and fold over the middle bridge and tuck it neatly behind the bridge to create half of a pocket.

Repeat this with the left wing of the triangle to create a full pocket!

Step 4: Now for the extra fun part! Decorating and making your bookmark look like any character you like! The choice is yours, why not try creating a giraffe, your favourite C91Èȱ¬ or book characters, maybe even your favourite snack! You can of course, follow our instructions and make a wonderful Henry bookmark, too!

To do Henry's face, we can use the leftover rectangle shaped paper that we cut out from our original A4 piece paper, alongside with additional coloured paper or bits and bobs that you can find to cut up to make the different features of your bookmark character.
