Eurovision's Cypriot entry appeals for Welsh support

It's good luck to Jon Lilygreen And The Islanders this weekend as the Newport singer and his band of Welsh and international musos represent Cyprus in the Eurovision song contest.

Watch Life Looks Better In Spring by the band:

The band are asking Welsh as well as Cypriot people to support them as they sing the track, written by Cypriots Nasos Lambrianides and Melis Konstantinou.

Lilygreen, 22, was brought in when the duo found Welsh producer Jon Gregory on the web in their search for a vehicle for the song. He suggested they take a look at Gregory's demos and the rest, as they say, is history.

Also this weekend in Wales in Bangor all day is the world's smallest venue and folk club Folk in a Box! Maybe you could blog about that too? The performers include Emily Barker who wrote and sang the award-winning theme song of the 91Èȱ¬ TV series Wallander (one of yours!), and Dom Coyote of Kneehigh Theatre and other things who has appeared on the stages of The Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford, and The National Theatre in England, but never before in Wales I suspect! (I am not their publicist but I do declare an interest - I taught Dom Coyote his first guitar lessons, he plays now my favourite guitar, and he is still my son!)

Apparently a great reception for PONTIO (www.pontio.co.uk), NoFit State Circus and Folk in a Box! I hope the music turns up again in Wales: this was their first outing North of Watford Gap and/or into Wales!

It all seems to ridiculous that different nationalities can represent different nations. How is it a Euro song contest if everyone has imports?

That said, take a Welsh rock band over Jordan any day of the week. Fair play to .
