Urdd Learner's medal winner announced
When it comes to Learner's Medal day at the Urdd Eisteddfod, I don't think you can get any better. If someone not born in Wales can learn Welsh as their second language, then it's hard to see why a lot more couldn't.
This competition gives that person a time to shine and shows that the event is more than worthy of its place at the Urdd.
Jack Pulman-Slater, a 16-year-old originally from Norfolk, was this year's winner of the Urdd Learner's medal. As a first-time winner and competitor in the Urdd, Jack's piece about the history and future of the Welsh language won him the prestigious award.
Moving to Wales when he was only in year six in primary school, and with English his main language, Jack has proved that it is not too late to learn Welsh, however hard it might seem.
