Organise two massive submissions while there is still time to do so.
1.Interested organisations.
2.Listeners and viewers generally.
Make the effort. I feel certain that the support is there for a 91Èȱ¬ that can innovate as well as keep abreast of the times.
Re the 10.00 pm TV News last night. George Alagaiah did an interview with the Chief Constable of Sussex. There had been 5 bodies discovered in the previous 10 days, 2 of them 7 hours previously, and the substance of one question was "Is the Police investigation out of control?".
How could anyone who, abreast of the news and in possession of even the smallest amount of common sense, have crafted such a question? It is both insulting and insensitive, and at worst can put ridiculous ideas into the minds of some people.
He then went on to enquire "Can you guarantee people's safety at this time?" Why ask a question to which the only truthful answer will be known by every viewer. Of course the man can't - he has 100 officers and other professionals on the case, and so far has had only 10 days to do his work. Safety from this criminal can only be guaranteed when he is caught and convicted.
Please treat senior officers with more respect, and also work on the assumption that "Mr Average" viewer has a modicum of common sense.
Thank you

The increasing number of people who, for one reason or another, live alone is a powerful reason for at least maintaining the present level of 91Èȱ¬ programs. Quality programmes that are not continually trying to sell something to the viewer/listener are some compensation for lack of human contact.
If it were a deciding factor there would be a case for asking the over 75's to make a contribution although, probably, that is politically too hot a potato.
