Australian Open all hours
It's that time of year again when Britain wonders if it can produce a for the first time in 73 years.
starts in the early hours of Monday morning and Andy Murray is favourite to win according to many bookies and claiming .
In doing so he beat former World number one and three-time Australian Open Champion, Roger Federer, . Perhaps crucially, - the US Open 6-2, 7-5, 6-2.
Murray is in great form - - but it is hoped he learned a lot from last year's , who then made it all the way to the final. He should be prepared for an "in form" outsider this year, but I am confident he should do better than his performance in 2007 too - .
The great news is that 91Èȱ¬ One and 91Èȱ¬ Two have bought in to the great buzz and the real possibility that Andy Murray could go all the way in 2009, by announcing that all of his matches will be shown live on terrestrial TV.
The time and channel for these programmes is dependent on the order of play which is drawn up at the end of each day's play in Australia. This will then be publicised through all 91Èȱ¬ outlets - - as soon as the information is available, so we will do our best to make sure you know when he is playing.
There will be live simultaneous streaming of the Murray matches on the red button and web or you can listen to the action via Radio Five Live or Radio 5 Live Sports Xtra.
Beyond the Murray factor, there will be extensive coverage of across the 91Èȱ¬. TV coverage will be available every morning from 0830 on the red button as well as online.
Radio 5 Live Sports Xtra will also carry live coverage from 0830, and both Radio 5 Live and the web will keep you informed of all the stories. Chris Bailey, John Lloyd and Sam Smith will lead the TV team with Jonathan Overend, Alastair Eykyn and David Law delivering radio commentary live from Australia.
The men's final will be shown live on Sunday 1 February from 0830 on 91Èȱ¬ Two, and will be live on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra.
Andy Murray will be the sole British representative in the men's draw after but two British women have gained direct entry - and - so good luck to them.
Qualification for the women is still in progress so at the time of writing it is hoped might make it to the main draw too.
The women's final will be live on the red button, and on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, from 0830 on Saturday 31 January, and highlights will also be shown from 1300-1400 on 91Èȱ¬ One.
I hope you enjoy the tournament, and our coverage, and of course do tell us what you think about both!

2. Is there any chance of Keothavong v Chakvetadze, South v Bartoli, or any other women's matches that won't be on the Rod Laver Arena evening-session being televised?

Going through the night on the red button would incur considerable expense to bring the pictures from Australia, in return for a very small audience - and we do always need to make sure that we spend our money sensibly, to achieve the maximum return.

Just before the Australian Open began, the 91Èȱ¬ promised live coverage of the Rod Laver Arena evening-sessions at these times, so the decisions to renege on this promise are completely unfair to fans who take their annual leave to watch the 91Èȱ¬'s coverage primarily for women's tennis.
The decision to show repeats of Chardy v Djokovic and Korolev v Federer at 08:30 GMT overrides the Women's Singles match between Jelena Dokic and Anna Chakvetadze, which I (and no doubt many others) had had my heart set on watching since the draw was made. The players and the order-of-play committee have kept up their end of the bargain - please now keep up your end.

The coverage is proving popular: the peak TV audience for Andy Murray on Saturday morning was 1.2m, so thanks to everyone who's been tuning in.

from midnight till about 4am or so on 91Èȱ¬2 on monday there is just news programmes from uk and u.s, those air on 91Èȱ¬ News and CNBC so there's no point in putting them on 91Èȱ¬2 as there are dedicated channels for news, have tennis matches on instead im sure you could even hire tim henman for free to comentate, he's rich enough.
Really hope you put live tennis on at 4am until murray comes on.
If we are waiting up until 4am you should put tennis on red button from midnight till 4am too so we can watch tennis whilst we wait for murray.

Now let's put that nonsense behind us and concentrate on the serious part of the tournament: the Women's Singles, with live coverage on the Red Button of Dokic v Safina from 08:30 GMT on Tuesday.
Let me put in an early request for the 91Èȱ¬ to cover the women's semi-finals in Thursday's day-session. These were shown recorded in 2006, but not televised at all by the 91Èȱ¬ in 2007-2008. That's just not acceptable for the semi-finals of a Major.

There is no reason why Breakfast couldn't be cut short and Saturday Kitchen be pushed back to screen it live - and in these days it's live that matters.

I'm very disappointed that the 91Èȱ¬ hasn't announced plans to show the women's semi-finals either live from 02:30 GMT on Thursday morning, or recorded after the evening-session (as in 2006, but not 2007-2008).
After making an exception to show Federer and Djokovic's second-round matches in the day-session of Wednesday 21st January, not to do so for the women's semi-finals is just plain sexist.
It's time to put the "vera" back in "coverage"!

The men's tournament meanwhile has been rather disappointing from our point of view as due to the scheduling we've often been left with fairly tedious one sided affairs involving Federer and Nadal.

also why is there some sort of musical choir on 301, why not tennis repeats? 302 is snowboarding.
i'm seriously annoyed, that and the fact that no final on 91Èȱ¬HD nor superbowl on 91Èȱ¬HD. I feel let down by our flagship broadcaster!
Please repeat the ENTIRE match including the players walking out into the stadium and practising for 10mins, the whole match AND presentation ceremony, i want to record it to my harddrive for archival.

why are tennis repeats not including the walk outs and 5mins practise, you learn alot from the commentators talking about their performance this year and see their stats etc, instead the repeats start off with the player serving which is rubbish! No interviews post match are shown either.
