Saturday Live

no really it is......

The last ever blog. Promise, promise, promise. The boys in Interactive Cyber Enterprises (subtitiled 'We're Busy - Stop Pestering Us') have said that we can make the change to a newsletter next week. This is a shame because i had already written the first ever SL newsletter and it was a real cracker. It was as good as the second book i wrote, which really was groundbreaking. And up there with the third book i wrote which was....oh, you get the picture. The point being you will never know the greatness of the newsletter because it ain't coming to you yet.

Now i have got that off my chest can i tell you that our listening figures have gone up - they are spectacular and we thankyou all for adding to them. As has been said many times on email correspndence to you individually, we can never be the greatneass that was John Peel and 91Èȱ¬ Truths but we leave happy on a Saturday morning if we have given you something to chew on or chortle over for the rest of the weekend.

So - on the show this week - an anorexic, a second home owner, a Eurovision winner and mum-of-a-teeanger-who had a party that went wrong.

You may have noticed that the highly prized celebrity anecdotes from my past have been spread a little thinly of late but I leave you with two corkers - i saw Rupert Graves in the park on Wednesday and I came perilously close to Jon Snow on a zebra crossing about 9 weeks ago.
They speak in equally hushed tones about their near misses with me.

Speak to you on Saturday
Love and hugs as ever
Fi

Is the 91Èȱ¬ now the Brown Broadcasting Corporation? An instant change from the the Blair BC! Your intro to this mornings programme says it all, you cut your spiel to minimum to plug Gordons interview on the today proramme.
I would love to see jounalists reporting and interviewing from an impartial standpoint but it seems that those days are long gone.
Perhaps you will 'reporting' from No 10 in the near future?
By the way last week the chap who slept around while his wife dieing was digusting and self indulgent to a point of depravity and I would not have given him airtime to promote his book, He made my skin crawl through the airwaves.

Are we supposed to feel for sorry for someone who suddenly finds 26,000 pounds in her account and decides to go spend it all? Did she think the bank was running a secret lottery, that she had a secret admirer in America or what? Would it kill her to walk into the bank and ask "what's going on here?" Frankly, this woman is an idiot, plain and simple.

I get very annoyed with all the bad press size 0 is getting and by its elimination from shops. I am a size 0 who does not obsess about food or weight beyond the fact of finding it next to impossible to find clothes that fit me.

I eat tons of food much of which I probably shouldn’t loving chocolate and any chewy sweets - but believe that eating more will not make my shoulders broader, crotch lower, hips wider, or arms and legs longer. My size, I have to say, is blameable not lack of food, but on my parents.

I often get comments when I complain that maybe I should buy clothes from the children’s section. This is incredibly insulting. I am 36 years old and a 12 year olds’ outfit is certainly not flattering on me.

I would like to remind people that this blanket assumption that those of us who are size 0 are either anorexic or bulimic is discriminatory. Would you recommend that all those people of a larger disposition (for which plus sizes and many plus shops exist) should visit the maternity section to find clothes for themselves?

By the way which set of pips is accurate? Do I go by those on my analogue radio down stairs, or by the digital in the bedroom?

    Hello there.

I never thought anything could replace Peelie on a Saturday morning; but you've been and gone and done it.

I find SL to be thought provoking and funny and I enjoy it enormously. Give everybody involved a gold star please. Better still, get that ex-Tube Scottish woman back on to partner with Fi and make it a daily show. They are a natural comedy duo.

Finally, is Fi available for marriage? :))

Ole, the lady who found all that extra money in her account should have checked with the bank, but she did explain that she had been expecting a compensation payment for some time and just assumed that this was it. Also, she did not spend it all before the error was discovered, it was a little less than £1000as I recall.

    Hi Fi
A great show last week, and I guess that if you had invited a guest on who had been 'anti 2nd home owning' that the homes interview would have been far less interesting and thought provoking, and about as predictable as my response, here.
I'd personally like to thank Mr Green and others like him who en masse (alongside other factors such as overzealous planning officers and NIMBY'S) have ensured, in Devon at least, that our wonderful children will still be at home aged 50+ (them, not me!). Perhaps by then I might just be able to afford a house WITH a garden, and all this despite the fact that I earn well above the local average salary - not that that is saying much.
Local villages with redundent schools says it all and unfortunately the local populus is either asleep to the effects of 2nd home ownership or suffering a bad case of hegemony? (you would be amazed at the number of young people who seem to accept the homes position - I expect this is because it is all they've ever known).
Please excuse the rant and apologies to Graham who, I'm sure, worked very hard for his reward, regardless of the cost to others. Many Regards, JM
