Call for Papers: CHI2013 Workshop on UX for TV

CHI 2013: Changing Perspectives will be held in Paris from the 27th of April to the 2nd of May 2013

A few of us at 91Èȱ¬ R&D have been working on how to exploit the increasingly rich range of interactive functionality now available though Internet connected 'smart' televisions in order to enhance the way in which audience members interact with our programmes. Last year at the conference,Ìýwe presentedÌýour work in the form of aÌýlong case study paperÌýcalled '. At the same conference we took part inÌýa Special Interest Group meeting hosted by GoogleÌýfocused onÌý''. This yearÌýGoogle and the 91Èȱ¬Ìýare co-organising aÌýone day workshopÌýon ''. The workshop will be held as part of the program on the 27th of April in Paris, France. We would like toÌýinvite academics and practitioners experienced in this topic to submit a position paper plus a short bio by theÌý18th of January 2013 in order to participate in the workshop. Your position paper should attempt to address one or more of the following themes:

  • Remotes
  • Content Discovery and Engagement onÌýCompanion Screens
  • Discovery of Devices
  • Social Network and User Generated Content
  • Personalisation and Recommendations

Our workshop seeks to increase the volume and quality of HCI research and innovative practice around user interfaces for television. Internet connectivity is driving a rapid increase in the range and scope of interactive experiences on the TV platform and it represents an exciting new opportunity for developing new HCI practice and methodology, as well as innovative forms of user experience. Through this workshop we hope to:

  • Share current research and practice to foster and strengthen aÌýcommunity of researchers in this field
  • Develop an ambitiousÌýresearch agenda to enhance user experience and HCI/User-centred practices in this field
  • Promote TV experiences and interfaces as a distinctive and important theme for HCI researchers by presenting exciting work from this field

    Hi Vinoba - will there be a publicly available document containing the results/ minutes of the CHI2013 workshop? I am writing a paper on future technology trends in the media space and the topic of as it relates to journalism and user interactivity via TV is of great interest.

    What could be the accepted topics for this? I am currently doing a research on private and public school difference somewhat like this . Can I submit a research work on it?
