Prototyping Weeknotes #46 (21/01/11)
On Monday, Tristan gets to help mecomplete our contribution to an EU project submission. Vicky'spreparing a presentation of Autumnwatch trial and findings to show various UX&D people and others who are interested in developing second screen experiences. She's working withChris and Tristan, about potential next steps for second screen to begin working out which projects could have most impact, and is working on a brief for ethnographic research and reviewing some previous papers written on the subject. Olivier's on the 91ȱ Upfront induction, which apparently turned out to be quite good - he was impressed that the 91ȱ values aren't entirely a load of meaninglessfluff. The rest of his time is/was spent meeting people from every corner of the 91ȱ, learning about what they do and how we can better use/contribute to web standards.
Tuesday, Tristan takes part in an audit of the equipment in the office, anything not locked down is grabbed by Chris G and stacked up in a meeting room. Kat and Tris work out a strawman proposal for how a personal data store might get adopted. Vicky's on a course learning about Consultancy skills.Mark's week was mainly on RadioDNS: he' s been researching timing and synchronisation data in DAB and FM broadcasts for RadioDNS. He also reviewed the RadioVIS and RadioDNS documentation with respect to timing. ChrisN and Mark have been merging recent design changes into our copy of the RadioVIS slide generation software.
On Wednesday, we have a staff meeting via videoconference. Tristan gets to help me out again, this time with some strategy work, just a tiny bit of a much bigger piece of work - he writes some scenarios on possible platform trends. Vicky meets a colleague from UX&D and then back to HWH for the staff meeting.
On Thursday , Tristan is over to W12 to talk about personal data with Vision, R&D and the ID team, then rushes back to review RadioDNS workstream andfinishing off strategy work from yesterday, followed by wrapping up our storytelling work, we've 3 or 4 related areas, we now need to work these up into a proposal, and then finally a conference call to discuss the strategy proposals. Theo's been away, but is back now, and spends Thursday doing dashboard user stories and meeting with Policy, then writing up notes with Chris G.
By Friday,Chris G has had a fantastic week - More process work, looking at templates, roles and responsibilites and the like. Lots of tidying IT equipment and cables in preparation for building work in the office. Good meeting with Policy about dashboard; answered lots of our questions and gave us some clear next steps. Theo does alterations to initial Dashboard wireframes and user story documentation, then audiosync UI wireframing with Mark. Duncan spent the week tinkering with Xbox Kinect, Cinder and OpenCV to understand if this device could be used to help production or simply as an alternate navigational aid for TV and Radio.
