Hello again,

Welcome to another weekly round up of on-line highlights. The podcast is standing by with this week's edition. If there is a page you are interested in or a guest item you want to follow up on to find out more, this is where you will find all of the links.

To open with this week, we had a brief chat about Google's latest social activity - Buzz. If you have a Gmail account, you may have already seen this and tried it. There has been a great deal going on questioning the amount of noise, privacy issues and whether or not Google has entered a contender to social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. Patrick de Laive and Zee M Kane of came in to the studio to talk about their experience with Buzz and what they think will be ahead for the web giant's future activities.

Around the world there are organisations working hard to make the web a free and open place. One of the oldest organisations doing this is the . Last week it marked 20 years since it opened up shop. One of the founders is former song writer for the Grateful Dead John Perry Barlow.

John Perry Barlow was on ARPANET when most of us were more concerned with starting school. He saw in those early days that control of cyberspace would become a big issue and so in 1990 with Mitch Kapor, he started the . He took some time out to tell me more about his experiences of Newsgroups in the 80s and what the EFF stands for today.
