Disabled man wrestles alligator shocker!

Post categories:

Crippled Monkey | 00:00 UK time, Friday, 17 June 2005

Well, it's been all over the news, of course - the story of Martin Crowson, the 53-year-old man from Eccles in Greater Manchester, who has been jailed for 12 months following years of making false claims for disability benefits. He racked up exactly £17,365 after saying that he was "virtually unable to walk", but his fraud was discovered when investigators found photos of him during a holiday in Florida. Oh, and he was also training for a black belt in the martial art of Ju-Jitsu (that's Mr Crowson, I mean - not the alligator).

The Mirror reports one of the fraud investigators as saying that Mr Crowson had a novel explanation for the alligator photo:

"He claimed the animal had its mouth taped shut - but at the end of the day it was a hardly a cuddly animal. We are all calling him Crocodile Dumb-dee now."

Frankly, now that Mr Crowson's gone away for a stretch at Her Majesty's Displeasure, Crippled Monkey is more concerned about the welfare of that poor, poor alligator. After all, if his mouth was taped up, doesn't that mean he was theoretically (and temporarily) disabled?

I believe the crockadile should be given this blokes disability entitlements instead as the crock was more disabled during the fight than he! Seriously though, He's conscions is a limited one to actually do such a thing. It doesn't help for those of us with more or less invisible disabilities.

Yes this was another help to Blair, another fraud, another workshy person claiming benefits to ensure a life of bliss. 12 months should have been twelve years, if I robbed a bank I would get much more then twelve months, this twit gets twelve months, and I'll get loads of are you really disabled, can your walk without the chair. Yes i have just finished the London run and intend to go for a six month holiday on my DLA and icapacity benefits.

Add to this, of course, the expense to the taxpayers of his imprisonment and it will work out that this man is nothing more than a lead swinging cheat. Oh, and I'm a physically disabled man who is sick of people assuming, when they discover that I am diabled, that my disability is mental!
