Every day this week there seems to have been a big story in the news about the relationship between openness and personal privacy.
Tonight David Grossman will be investigating what we听should听be allowed to know, and we'll be joined by a panel including actor Hugh Grant, Spectator editor Fraser Nelson, lawyer Charlotte Harris, and former prostitute Helen Wood who was embroiled in a sex related super injunction herself, to debate privacy laws, super injunctions and Twitter revelations.
Then historian and author of England's Mistress, Kate Williams will be asking why all these affairs have at their core older married men and younger attractive women - what does this tell us about 21st Century sexual behaviour in Britain?
Do join Emily at 10.30pm on 91热爆 Two.

There were also some interestingly creative property house deals with and for his male friend.
Others got jail for less money. Why not him?

Could be part of a larger debate about the Human Rights of individuals 鈥 versus - what is in the best interests of our society, which has degenerated to the point where we have little right to persuade other nations and cultures to adopt 鈥榙emocracy鈥 - as we know it.
Last night鈥檚 鈥楾onight鈥 (ITV) dealt with cases where the HRA1998 (as interpreted by learned lawyers and judges) defied common sense and the rights of society.
The cases of violent criminals, murderers, rapists and paedophiles being released into our society because of 鈥榯heir right to family life鈥, etc., are well known to most of us. Yet some contributors attempted to cite cases where the HRA protected the vulnerable.
HRA, by focussing on Individual Rights, has devalued the Rights of Society and ignored the Responsibilities of all members to a society. Although Cameron has confirmed his belief that a Bill of Rights is required (that will hopefully redress this important issue) I believe his review team is heavily loaded with the status quo lefty liberals.
I am presently fighting a battle about the degeneration of discipline (in a faith school) which turns a blind eye on disruptive pupils and believes it can reform even those pupils with criminal records. I鈥檒l have more on this later; meanwhile I believe that the right to privacy of an individual should not be paramount over the right of the public in cases where society is affected or put at any risk. Although I have no interest in the misdeeds of 鈥榗elebs鈥 there should be disclosure and penalty in cases where they hold public office or are represented as role models for our baffled youth.

That surely depends on what you mean by real law, your Honour.
Although I agree with your main point, my gripe is that judges鈥 incredible intellect seem to be used more on studying and applying the minutiae of the wording of legislation than on dispensing fair and just judgements 鈥 with particular regard to the needs of society rather than exclusively those of the individual - too often the offender.
With regard to other judicial resources, whilst it is accepted that prosecuting and defending counsel will use any means to win their case (and their fees) judges should surely look beyond the wording of a piece of legislation, often poorly drafted, or without being fully tested and trialled on a full range of circumstances that may not have been anticipated at the drafting and enactment stages. Case law seems not to be developing in the many cases that now seem to hinge on the one-sided Human Rights Act.
Another current issue regarding the use of 鈥榡udicial resources鈥 is the judgement against Network Rail, which appears to result in a fine of 拢3million being paid out from public funds and into...where? The only winners will again be the army of legal eagles who have argued for and against the judgement.

If you have the right mentality (quasi OCD/autistic) there is a visceral thrill to be had with language - the more (seemingly) precise, the greater the thrill. Patent writing takes one into this surreal realm, and I suspect law is similar. Justice, on the 'other hand', should be a million miles away from such rigidity.
It has been shown, repeatedly, that men and women censure their own and opposite genders DIFFERENTIALLY. Sexual offence cases are a particularly interesting area of study.
But law is about 'tidying away'; justice is about humanity. Law is coupled with retribution, justice with amelioration. The immature tend to law; the wise to justice.
In this Age of Perversity, justice must wait; and will wait a long time if Westminster is any template.

I've never paid for sex - the wife, her sister and the mistress wouldn't be impressed if I tried but I'm sure 拢50-拢100 can get a man a good time..we only ever need about half an hour at most, so you don't have to be rich to 'have some fun' and it can all be done in a lunch hour.
The hacks get good juicy stories whilst getting a bit of action on the side themselves then go all sactimonious with piety whilst trotting out these sex stories. The real sad part in all this is that people would actually be interested in these stories...whats even sadder is that there are job descriptions such as media lawyers..and -as always -the real winners in all of this.
Huge Grant has given a good account for the right to privacy, and has therefore forced me to rethink on this issue, an issue I didn't even give much thought to anyway. Still, I've never seen a film that he's been in that I liked...but that's just me.

The on-going tragedy of people dying in search of protection is a shame to Europe's civil conscience. These deaths are not isolated incidents. They are the deadly result of the building of a 'Fortress Europe'. Europe's exclusion policy - a policy of border closing that makes it almost impossible to legally enter Europe, that lacks re-settlement programs and cannot guarantee refugees a safe transfer to other countries - has forced tens of thousands of people to resort to illegal ways of getting to a country where they are safe and where economical survival is possible.

can somebody please tell me which of these Cultures are the one we all have to become, please? Which of them are the "purest English"?
and what about religion? Do we all have to become CoE, Protestants, Catholics, or Druids? What about the Buddhists, the Muslims, the Sikhs, the Atheists, the Jedi? Which of these are the most "English"? And what happens to those who don't like the choice forced upon us to conform?
could it be the Liberalism that allows us to choose between these cultures and lifestyles *for ourselves* is more English than any of them separately? Of course, that freedom also allows some English to decide they DON'T LIKE OTHERS CHOOSING DIFFERENT THINGS TO THEMSELVES, they want to force others to agree with them. In a word, they are fascists. English culture allows people to choose that small-mindedness - *IF THEY WANT TO.*
why? Because England is a LIBERAL NATION, and our grandparents, and THEIR parents fought for exactly those rights to choose. I think it is a pity some would like to drape themselves in "the flag", whilst trying to deny the very freedoms it stands for. But hey - that's their choice, right? A shame they don't have the MATURITY, (Barrie), to offer the same freedoms to others.
it is Liberalism that requires maturity, any child/adolescent can get all steamed up about "purity", and the fascists historically are merely a bunch of hysterical fanatics led by hypocritical charismatics. Just like the various extremist Muslim/Christian/Jewish/Hindu/Buddhist extremist groups. Sooner or later, as mentioned in the documentary 'The Power of Nightmares', this quest for "purity" leads extremists to turn upon themselves. I just wish they'd *start* that way, and let the mature LIBERALS get on with normal, peaceful, co-existent day-to-day lives.

i am astonished that Osborne could have the extreme gall to claim "Spain's austerity has led to a improvement for them", when EVERY sane economist in the world knows the PIGS are in deep shit, and that each new "bailout" *FOR THE BANKS* makes the situation worse, and every austerity cut is another nail driven into a national economy.

The French and German Govts are going to watch the UK Govt deliberately tank the UK's domestic economy, just as they are watching Spain, Ireland, Greece, Portugal, and most of Eastern Europe tank - allowing their *own* economies to grow to take up the slack, and and control the new markets.
and Osborne sat there and smiled at Legard, as she outlined how this would happen!

here's another simple thought - instead of creating a new law that even breaks Parliamentary Privilege, crucial for our political system, why not simply make the payments for publishing erroneous and slanderous information so high the tabloid holding companies cannot afford it? Plus, make ALL costs go against the media defendants, AND improve on access to Legal Aid - which should absolutely definitely be happening anyway.
the Law should NOT only be for the wealthy, and it is normal people who deserve legal protection MORE than the wealthy - the wealthy have many options to escape the media attention, normal people cannot do so.
at the end of the day however, the ultimate solution is simply to break the stranglehold of the KKKorporates upon British mass media, reimpose the strict limits of media ownership upon individuals/companies, and make the newspapers once again less about celebrity and gossip, and more about actual news.

i'm *pretty sure* the UK Authorities used "defeating Fascism" upon those posters, Barry. Whether or not that was why the nation's LEADERS went to war is quite another matter. Very similar to the current wars in the ME, in fact.
i can compare Islam against Classic British Liberalism through direct experience of both cultures, and i have to tell you - Islam doesn't stand a chance. Unless we do a "4th Crusades", and destroy the very Liberalism that gives us our cultural strength.
all those millions of extraordinarily brave men and women who are rising up against dictatorships in the Middle East - are they looking to the Freedoms of the UK, whilst the UK is looking to impose a Fascist Dictatorship, a racist Regime, and a self-destructive mono-culture upon itself? No, i do not believe so. Despite the obvious attempt of the KKKorporate press and some elements within the 3 condemn(ed) coalition parties to force that upon us.
the cuts will destroy the economy, the artificial banking 'crisis' already teetered it, and either we all accept we ARE different and that is OK, and organise to put the breaks on the Bankers and corrupt politicians, or else we will fight each other for "purity", and they will triumph over us.
multi-culturalism, like democracy, is not perfect, its just far better than any other system. Personally, i don't want to be forced to wear a bowler hat, commute to London, and talk like someone out of Mary Poppins, and i certainly don't want to get stuffed into a "shower-unit" for insufficient "Englishness" by a bunch of retarded racist troglodytes. I suspect i'm not alone in this, despite the churning out of a stream of open fascism by much of the press and media.
the same thing happened before WW2 as well, btw, and the British Public had the great sense and morality to reject fascism.
i think we still have those qualities, and that cultural strength. And listening to the uprisings across the ME, i also think there are billions of people around the world who admire us for that. How many people admire fascist, mono-cultural Germany in the 1940s?

Re multiculturism. Different cultures mean conflict - and cooperation. In the 1950s and 60s, in my home town like many others, it was the brown school uniforms v the rest. We lived side by side, but if a brown/purple school uniform went out with a green/blue school uniform, the priest would be knocking at the door, and maybe the minister too. I could give graphic horror stories of emotional blackmail and abuse, but what's the point? It would be the truth, but not the whole truth. It would ignore the friendship, goodneighbourliness and community spirit which transcended these divisions.
In Wales we have conflict over the language issue. Feelings run high, and national myths based on a manufactured Celtic history don't help. And yet these myths also give dignity to the marginalised. The see-saw swings of power are settling down. We live together bitchily but fairly amicably on the whole, because Britain being Britain, we are who we choose to be anyway.

my mother's cousin spent 4 years in a pow camp in poland (camps that were designed to enslave the poles) and only survived the walk back to the uk because a german couple took him in.

We have to let the boiling pot settle but to do that we have to talk instead of just lashing out with the same insults back and forth. If we went into Iraq without a plan then that was just the MO of the Blair years because we certainly went into MC without a definition never mind a plan. We have lost that understanding of development, of humans as organisms, of societies, ideologies and cultures.

Multiculturalism is (now) the 'divide and rule' tool of the corporates, who seized upon a fledgling, and ill-thought through, idea of some very well meaning but rather naive children of the counter-culture. Where is Bob Dylan now, tell me that?
I happen to think that Bob Dylan saw a market opportunity and facilitated a 'movement' that might otherwise have simply fizzled out. I think that about Marylin French as well. I think she grossly exagerrated the dissatisfaction that women felt about their lives and created a collective guilt that has gradually eroded the family as a workable 'system'.

The postmodern paradigm that took hold in the early 90s and led to the rewriting of the social lexicon including the banning of any words thought to refer to innate characteristics, has real detrimental effects.
by aggragating all forms of disability under one umbrella term has this effect:
1. in the NHS restructuring, GPs will have neither the specialist nor geographic knowledge to deal with inborn errors as efficiently as currently because inborn errors are often hard to detect, rare, and early detection is often vital.
2. On the money programme the whole prog revolved around insurance for work accidents until in the last 5 mins a woman with cerebral palsy rang up and said 'I didn't get a chance to buy insurance'.
These things matter; only politics is prejudiced, biology is only unfair.

before the celts, brit and spain were occupied by the megaliths cultures. this and others were spawned from 6 paleolithic (>15kya) women who hung out in refuges in spain, france, italy, balkans waiting for the ice to clear. 90% of scandinavian men and women trace their maternal line to one of these six. as you go southeast the percentage of people descended from Jasmine, a neolithic woman in Syria increases, but Jasmine is also particular to Europe. you might expect to trace to Jasmine but by a quirk of history you may well trace to Katrina, one of the paleolithic women. The celts came along 3-9kya. 80% of men in nw scot and aire trace to R1b1b, which as Neil Oliver disovered comes from the Maykop culture in the caucasus mountains. from the NE of England you may well trace to R1b1b also.
