I've said before that you three changed the way F1 is viewed and we're all richer for the experience. Can you bring in someone else to complement DC and Eddie because as you walk away to pastures new, they are F1 for many of us now, I pray the 91Èȱ¬ see sense and keep them together.

Thanks for the last 4 years. The 91Èȱ¬ coverage with you, EJ and DC bought me back to watching F1 after I felt it got boring and predictable. Hearing you on the Chris Moyles show, with your obvious enthusiasm made me want to watch more, especially the F1 Forum. I live in the US now, and have to go to fairly ridiculous lengths to watch the 91Èȱ¬ coverage, but, it's worth it. All the best for the future, but seriously, Sunderland over Singapore?? ;-)

You'll be missed - that was a wonderful way to sign off. You shared info without patronising, you entertained without becoming cheesy. You may not have had the style of EJ's shirts - but that's no bad thing...

Jake, thank you for the best four year of Formula 1 broadcasting I can remember. You along with the rest of the 91Èȱ¬ F1 team have done such a tremendous job. The person lucky enough to step into your shoes has a massive task ahead of them! I think it's safe to say that Lee McEnzie is the fan favourite right now, but time will.

I will miss you on race weekends next year, but I fully understand your desire to spend more time at home. Especially if you are expecting your first child... Congratulations! It's just a shame you had to leave us for football :-)

I've never tweeted or commented before but on your departure I felt the time was right. You've made me cry again reading this, as you did yesterday and the end of season last year. I've enjoyed every f1 minute and along with EJ and DC I can only say than you to you all. 91Èȱ¬ F1 never bettered!

So nice to see someone in TV land understanding what's really important in life. How many have exchanged a meaningful relationship with their partner and children in the desperate struggle to keep their faded grins on our screens?

Really enjoyed your C91Èȱ¬ stint and on F1, and while I don't get BT Vision, I'm sure you will return to Auntie at some stage.

You and the whole team deserve great credit for your approach to the sport. Objective and factual without the fluff Sky require to justify the 600 quid needed to enjoy such a captivating sport. The decision to cut the amount of live coverage was a disaster for Auntie. Free to air F1 is a must for the dedicated fans who want to watch it. I for one will NEVER give Murdoch and co a penny of my money. Great job all of you and all the best to you and ur new family Jacob.

Funnily enough, before 2008 I would have classed myself as a 'fan' of F1 only in the sense that I enjoyed it when there was a first-corner crash (or similar). It has been an education watching yourself, DC and Eddie over that time and I am now despaired of by friends and family as having a growing addiction to the sport. Thank you and best of luck for the future (especially the parenting)!

Good luck for the future Jake....have to say my initial reaction on hearing you got the job was one of surprise, but you've done a great job.

However, Lee Mckenzie is considerably nicer to look at than you so if she gets the job I'll cope with your absence (horribly sexist thing to say, very much tongue in cheek, she's also extremely knowledgeable)!

All the best for the future, both personally and professionally. I think you, EJ and DC made it fun and easy for the casual viewer to get, and you can tell how much you were respected in the paddock. I know Lee will probably get the job (and I love her) but I'd love to see Will Buxton get some role with the 91Èȱ¬, be it yours or Lee's role.

I've never commented on a blog before, and whilst I've spent a not inconsiderable chunk of my life watching sport on TV, neither have I ever felt particularly drawn in by the way it has been presented. I'd like to take the opportunity now though, to say that your work presenting F1 has genuinely had me laughing, crying and experiencing the ups and downs of the amazing stories as if I were there myself, and as if I had won the respect and admiration of all of the remarkable individuals in the sport - just as you clearly have.

Personally, I couldn't understand (and was saddened by) your decision to move to presenting football. However, you've only gone and made me understand completely, with what is a wonderfully honest blog entry.

I have watched you, EJ, DC and other 91Èȱ¬ crew on F1 for the last 4 years, and the coverage has been amazing, and the banter and laughter between you and your co-presenters has been brilliant to look at...... work permitting and coverage permitting, I have been watching 91Èȱ¬ coverage over Sky coverage this year, and even with the non-live events, the coverage has been top notch. You will be missed on 91Èȱ¬ F1 coverage next year, but best of luck in your new venture and on the arrival of your first child (think you said it was due on 17/3, St Patrick's Day!).

If your contract is non-exclusive...get your arse back in F1 !!

Yesterday was not only a great Grand Prix but a great watch thanks to you and the team. It's been that bond between you, EJ and DC that has been the backbone of the 91Èȱ¬'s coverage and made it such an easy watch. This is one of the few times I have read Jake's blog and its very engaging ... I have seen the coverage of F1 on Sky and the 91Èȱ¬ and although Sky's coverage is very good , the 91Èȱ¬ is like in so many things ' class ' . I thought the combination of Jake / EJ and DC had a natural harmony and it was always a running amusement to see the 3 men standing side by side . Its a great shame to see Jake leave the glamour of F1 and the extraordinary closeness the sport provides which is unlike most other sports to the obscurity of BT Football , particularly as I think so many in the country are disenchanted with football .

Not until I saw the Sky F1 prog did I realise just what a slick outfit you guys had become, and just what a great rapport you created with the teams. There was a special chemistry, and it will be sad to see that disappear. Good luck with your future projects, Jake.

Been a long time since I've posted on this site.

I've moaned a lot about the 91Èȱ¬ coverage this year (and I still haven't got used to it). I elected not to get Sky on the basis that the way my television is set up meant it would have been impractical - nothing to do with money.

If Lee McKenzie's presentation in Canada, Germany, and Hungary (I think that's it) is a taste of what's to come, then I'm really disheartened. From what I've seen of Sky's coverage, she wasn't anywhere near either you, Jake, or Sky's presenter, Simon.

Good luck for the future - but I really would have liked to have seen you play table tennis against Simon Lazenby (Sky's presenter) with your iPads.

Just wanted to say thank you Jake- you brought a refreshing face to the 91Èȱ¬ coverage, and you will be sorely missed! The fact that you were one of us, an avid fan doing the dream job will inspire many I'm sure that if they work hard can achieve, go far & travel the world! What a season, what a finale. If ever there was a race to sign off with, that was the one.

Thank you for four years of amazing coverage and helping to create some great sporting memories - Jenson Button's championship win, Sebastian Vettel becoming double and now triple champion and all the moments along the way paved the way to their victories and those of the other drivers.

You, DC and Eddie (and Lee) have brought a new dimension to the sport, a human edge. This is something that is so easily lost in the cut and thrust of events. It'll be a shame to see the 3 amigos seperated, but as with all things in life, there comes a time when things have to move on, people need a new challenge, circumstances change - no-one should begrudge anyone that. You can look back on 4 successful fun seasons that have entertained millions and look forward to the many joys your future will bring.

How am I going to remember the last 4 years? Currently there's a blank wall in front of my desk; one that has been crying out for something to brighten it up for nearly 4 years. Sitting looking at that wall over the past few weeks, I realised what it needed. I think you tweeted #SebRuinedJakesShirt. I think the general reply was #SebTurnedJakesShirtIntoAnAuctionItem. I'm going to have some serious explaining to do to my other half when it graces that wall, but every time things get a bit mundane, I'll look up and think about the excitement of the season, the comedy moments, EJ's taste in clothing - something that'll bring a smile to my face. Seb asked if that shirt was expensive - the answer is it's priceless.

Thank you Jake, your presenting over the past years has been amazing... I'm still disheartened at the 91Èȱ¬/Sky split, but I watched the US GP on Sky F1 at a pub the other week and the coverage is considerably worse (apart from Brundle of course)! You EJ and DC give F1 reporting character and make the pre and post analysis exciting. Every feature and interview is a laugh, it's great! You'll be sorely missed and your replacement has a huge task on their hands.. Good luck at BT and at being a Dad, you'll be great!

I was also a none believer, Jake. But I applaud the whole effort by the 91Èȱ¬, despite the unfortunate failure to maintain 100% live coverage. That said, the extended highlights have been excellent and iPlayer has changed how I watch completely. If you look at it as a whole, DC, Eddie and yourself have done an amazing job and made it all the more enjoyable, whilst clearly building a wonderful rapport with key figures in the paddock. So thank you greatly for your contribution, but let it be said, nothing is quite like working for the beeb, and your lucky not to be completely cutting all your connections. Parenthood looming, I wish you well, and can you pull some strings and get Liverpool matches shown earlier on MOTD, now you're a football man! Cheers.

Everything about this F1 coverage has been about engaging the audience. The weekend started with Jake educating Aled about the F1 world and ended with the F1 forum. Unbelievable to compare this with its immediate predecessor and the level of access. You could see that drivers, managers and teams appreciated what the 91Èȱ¬ has achieved and as fans we always received a 120% output. It seems right to see F1 continue to evolve but a shame the dream team will be no longer together and best luck to you Jake on your many new adventures!

Jacob, you made F1 become apart of my life. I plan to become apart of one of those teams in the next few years - watch this space, your replacement could be interviewing me.
As much as people say I'm mad for getting up at dawn on Saturdays and Sundays, it's all worth it getting to see the sport of f1.
Hearing the raw of the chain, while sitting in the dark wrapped in my duvet, and the guy who says "Round 1 Australia", then seeing you, EJ and DC in some awesome vt, it's all part of the fun.
You will be missed in the paddock because of you expert skills when presenting, but I look forward to you presenting the arsenal games next season. And perhaps making the odd appearance at Grand Prix weekends - you can't keep away forever.
So Mr Humphrey, you'll be missed when the Canadian Grand Prix goes on for 4 hours 4 miniutes, but I can't say I don't look forward to the 2013 season - it gets better all the time.

Jake you are by far one of the Best presenters the 91Èȱ¬ have, and the knowledge you have on Formula 1 is in my view better than EJ's. You are also a credit to the 91Èȱ¬ and you will be very much missed. P.S you are by far a lot better than that Idiot Simon Lazenby on Sky sports F1. Good luck with the football and also becoming a proud dad.

As an old and wizened F1 fan from way back in the early 60's I can assure you it wasn't anything to do with your blogging or twitter account. It was the ease of delivery. The slick dovetailing of set pieces. And the fact that you came across as simply a nice bloke who loves F1 as much as the rest of us.

Im sad to hear you are leaving Jake.
When it was announced the 91Èȱ¬ would take the rights in 2008, I dont think i even muttered your name as Presenter, I thought Steve Rider would move with it and to be honest when you was announced I was suprised but I thought it was a good move, I though ' Ive seen him before, he'll be a good choice' and you was, I felt all those idiots on the blogs berating you saying you was a astupid choice was ridculous and how you proved them all wrong, you are a F1 Fan like the rest of us, professional, calm, collective and keeping DC and EJ in check every weekend.
I sadly decided to shun the 91Èȱ¬'s coverage this year for Sky Sports and Sky had it all except one thing - A decent Presenter, I was not really pleased with Simon Lazenby and I actually wondered if Sky Sports did actually tempt you to jump, I think I read you stayed at the 91Èȱ¬ to do the Olympics which you couldnt be faulted for, you was great in that as you were in F1.
Plus for your replacement, I dont think it will be the same, I fear your departure with the 10 Races Live will see the 91Èȱ¬ further chipping away at F1 and we need a presenter like yourself to rescue the 91Èȱ¬'s Coverage : Mark Pougatch & Lee McKenzie would be great people to slip into the role to keep F1 on the 91Èȱ¬, Lee espically with her knowledge of the Sport.
Reading your reason why you are leaving, cant be blamed, Harriet needs you and you need Harriet and BT are very serious about Football and picked a decent presenter who loves the Sports he has covered.

My children are 5 and 3 and are big fans, they always say hello to Jakey Wakey Woo Woo - they have always called you that! They are also big Vettel fans so yesterday was spent trying to explain the ever changing championship position & you leaving. I was reading your blog and for some reason your reasons for moving on weren't ringing true, until I got to the end. That is the only reason you need and respect to you for leaving a gig you clearly love to take being a dad seriously, you will never regret it trust me!!

I wish I had approached you in the Starbucks in Austin and said thank you for the great show that you and the team put together. I've watched formula one for many years and I can't remember ever enjoying the pre and post race show as much as the race itself. As for your departure, the show will be poorer for it! Good luck in your new endeavours.

I now fear for the 91Èȱ¬ coverage. When you watch people interviewed by yourself, EJ, DC or Lee, compared to the opposition you feel the warmth towards you guys from everyone. In the world the rest (F1) live in you never got drawn in, star struck, overwhelmed or big headed. BIG TY & Good luck with your enlarged family....Sunderland instead of Singapore?
