The deal that never quite was has just been made public.

Once I have it in electronic form, I'll post it.

What a missed opportunity this has been though. Now that Labour will be going into government without either a coalition partner or a stabilty pact there will be no 'goodies' such as PR in local elections or a promise of a referendum in 2011. Nothing will happen and Labour will just carry on like nothing has happened! So no chance of a Parliament next time round? Or will Plaid still be able to demand a few concessions without being in the rainbow coalition?

From a Lib-Dem point of view: We were offered the choice of selling our grandmother or selling our soul for power. To be honest, at the grass-roots we didn't fancy either very much.
Given the insults leaking out of Labour over the last month (inedible/unpalateable being one of the most polite - hold close and smother being one of the most repulsive) and the idealogical differences between ourselves and the Tories, its not really surprising that we've ended up where we are.

so, no prospect of coalition of the kind we would expect.

can we really stomach another election so soon, and would it even produce a different result?

or is it perhaps time for all those ex-Councillors in Cardiff Bay to stop trying to be mini-MPs and actually make the Assembly work the way the voting system intended - in partnership?
