Smoke gets in your eyes

The things you do eh?
Wayne, the darts champ and I had hoped to bring some clarity to the way we elect our Assembly Members. He'd throw the darts, I'd run through the figures.
No excuses - the pub was smoke-free after all - but put it like this: I suspect things weren't very much clearer by the time we'd done our stuff.
You win some ...
On my way back to Cardiff to do the same again in Welsh - minus the dart board - I passed one of those posters on wheels that Plaid Cymru have become so fond of. This one was in the process of being parked for all to see on their way in to work tomorrow.
'Vote UKIP' it said in huge letters. 'A vote to get rid of the National Assembly'.
And just at that very moment ... unlikely as they are to make a big impression on May 3rd ... the fog suddenly seemed to lift.

Is this a blog on the elections in Wales, or a blog on your coverage of the elections in Wales?
I thought you did a grand job in the pub! Mind you, hanging the item on the ability of a darts player to come up with the numbers you needed was a bit optimistic. The voting system was no clearer when you were finished, but I think that's the fault of the system rather than any shortfall on your part. Looking forward to watching you throughout the campaign.
We retired to Wales 17 months ago after living abroad for 26 years. We are Welsh and have always kept up to date with local and national news. However I'm confused as to what is expected of me in next months elections. I've had 1 'vote for me' leaflet pushed through the mail box and would welcome some advice on how to assess the 'canditates'.
It seems that the grey haired, old men of UKIP haven't learnt from the Tory 'no assembly' policy. Only since the Tories decided to change this policy did they do better in Wales. It makes you wonder what UKIP are thinking; maybe they just can't remember...
Just been reading Glyn Davies's blog, is it true ? Are cochlear implants banned in Wales ? Bethan do you have time to look into it?

So have I. And since I've just written the words "who says the 91热爆 never listens" I'd better prove it hadn't I?
In response to Alistair Cook, UKIP is not about changing policy to scrounge more votes. It is about putting forward an argument to the public in hope that they agree.
Whatever your views on UKIP, they are a party of substance and independent thinkers.
"It seems that the grey haired, old men of UKIP haven't learnt from the Tory 'no assembly' policy"
That should read "I am using the same old spin and ignoring the reality in favour of my own stereotypical views"
Our youngest UKIP candidate in this area is female and just 18 years old!
Janet - you may find
will help you compare the four main parties' policies.
Or if you go to our and choose from the political websites dropdown, you can find out more from some of the parties themselves.
Happy hunting!
"It seems that the grey haired, old men of UKIP ..."
I'm not old, and I only have grey hairs from worrying about the cost of the Assembly, but I say good luck UKIP!
Hi, Betsan, you don't know me but I am a candidate for the Mid and West Wales region, standing as an Independent but raising the flag for groups trying to prevent the money-wasting industrial turbines that the Welsh Assembly misguidedly are trying to cover the beautiful mountains of Wales. Myself and John Jenkins [standing for South Wales West] will be on a leaflet coming through letter boxes soon - we have no money, no party logo [no time to get it registered] but are people at the bottom of the ladder trying to have a voice in what happens to the land we live in.
Ask yourself this question - what have you got plugged in and live in your house, is your tv on standby, is your phone charger switched on? etc etc. Experts are now questioning the unreliable and uneconomic wind turbines - and are recommending usage reduction [which the 'leccy companies hate] and development of tidal pool generation, solar, photovolaic, carbon sequestration etc.
So Betsan, here is our introduction.
