For one night only

Off to listen to a "senior Labour politician" ... you know the kind of "senior politician" who may not be around for that much longer. And though he wasn't going to stay away from Wales during the campaign - gee no, why would he? -it looks as though this may be his one and only visit after all.
His choice or Rhodri's?
I may get a chance to ask him. He may even tell me which of the 'eleven 4 eleven' is so steeped in Welsh Labour ideology that he, the architect of New Labour, couldn't possibly adopt it.
I won't get a chance to blog until late tonight which means you have all day to tell me whether he's right to stay away.
And that makes it 10am - which means ladies and gentlemen, Tony Blair is in Wales.

Unusual. Why are the 'RED' Labour party of Wales looking for support from TORY BLAIR? (I think I spelt his name right...)
Sounds like another crackpot idea from that merry nitwit; Rhodri Morgan.
(P.S Keep up the good work Betsan!)
Establishing an Assembly and according Wales a substantial measure of home rule was a major historical achievment which assures TB's legacy in Wales. That's worth remembering whatever one thinks of the Iraq adventure, which frankly from the present short range historical perspective seems calamitous. I speak as someone who voted with the Government on the Iraq votes in Parliament.
quite unprofessional Betsan...yawn
I disagree with former Labour MP Gareth Thomas (above) that devolution is Tony Blair's legacy in Wales. Devolution for Wales is a legacy of the late John Smith. Tony Blair diluted Mr Smith's devolution proposals for Wales and left us with a weak talking shop. Blair's legacy in Wales is a legacy of giving us second best.
BlueFlag,
You did spell his name wrong, its Tory B.liar!
Gareth.....I thought it was the Welsh people who established a Welsh assembly by voting for it in a referendum. If John Smith would have lived to be PM, the referendum would have still gone ahead. For the sake of his party's showing in the Assembly election, he will do well do stay away. I would imagine the same goes for Scotland too. He is the political version of Mike Ruddock during his last few months as Welsh coach. Except of course, Ruddock had done a good job.
Australia calling!!keep up the good work Betsan!!
As for Blair, i wouldn't open the curtains if he was speaking in my back yard!!
I'm hoping for a good showing from Plaid as are the rest of the Melbourne branch.
It would be nice if your blog covered ALL parties. How about the UKIP effort. After all they have at least created some fun by introducing Dai Llewelly as a candidate.
point of interest do the Am's who lose their seats in this election get a pension for previous service in the Assembly?
