Tuesday 19th August by Rachel Jones
Good afternoon, it's Rachel here again. Thanks to Dantai2000 for pointing out my massive error in the blog earlier..I completely managed to miss out what Dom and Aled are up to today.
Dom I can tell you is at this very minute writing the , he's then going to take his suit to the dry cleaners in preparation for Dave and Jayne's wedding.
Aled is still away on a secret mission. As I've said a few times in the blog, he's doing something quite cool at the moment, but we don't want to reveal it until we definitely know it's going to happen. Watch this space, or more like listen to the show.
Although Aled is away, he has embarked on the big Radio 1 alcohol experiment. Aled is basically being a guinea pig for 3 weeks. The aim is to find out what happens when you drink over the recommended alcohol intake. He had a medical on Friday and now has to drink between 7 & 10 units per day. He's posting a daily video blog online. I think it's going to be really interesting how this pans out. Apparently, Aled could put on weight and his skin could go all spotty only in 3 weeks. I've also been let in on other things that are going to happen, I think this is going to be a bit of an eye opener!
So from Aled to Dave. As you know it's Dave's wedding this weekend. I love a good wedding. Managed to buy a new dress yesterday which is nice. If you've been listening to the show you'll know it's my job to make the cake.
I did think I was totally mad agreeing to do it when I found myself still baking at 10pm last night when the credits of Dragons Den were rolling. I think I must have been subliminally scarred when /radio1/chrismoyles/galleries/2877/24/#gallery2877called my cake 'dry'. My whole week is basically going to be taken up with making the perfect cake. I also had Andi Peters chipping in this morning with his thoughts! Saying that, I do enjoy it, plus it means I can bring cake in for the team most of the week. It always makes them happy!
Anyway, it's nearly 1pm and time for me to head home to whack the cooker on and get baking again! Let me know if you have any tips!
Have a nice day now!
Rachel xx

Shave off any unsightly nobbles from the baking process, give the sponge a good licking with lemon curd then when you lay the icing down and get a good fit, apply the paddles on opposing sides and gently smooth as if you were a plasterer. Not too hard though or else the sponge may break through.
