As A lister American artists go is up there with Pink and Beyonce for us on The Chris Moyles Show. She came in to talk about her new track Wind It Up which hass divided opinion to say the least.

A cool music magazine gave it a negative review, after the first listen there was confusion within half the show team, with the other half of the team thinking it’s brilliant. Even the Radio 1 playlist weren’t sure of it last week. A couple of extra listens and the committee unanimously added it this week even though it’s not out for 4 weeks and the playlist is virtually full.

On air Gwen talked about losing over 3 stone in 5 months and how without the motivation of having a single coming out she would never have done it! She also revealed that she was mad about The Sound of Music (no, really?) and even though this track seems perfect timing what with the West End Show opening in a week it was in fact written 2 years ago with a view of releasing it last Christmas. Off air my highlight was meeting her new baby son – Kingston, seriously one of the cutest babies you’ll ever meet. I’d imagine that Chris’ highlight was seeing Miss Stefani breast feeding. Actually, saying that, I don’t know, is that something you’d be excited to see?

I wouldn’t know, given the job of getting our A lister back to the studio mid feed I preferred the calling her name in her general direction while staring at the ceiling method worked best. She was still tucking her boob in as she walked in to the studio. Not the kind of thing I banked on seeing when I woke up on your average Wednesday morning!

Listen Again to the interview and in it you’ll hear the track for yourself. Listen to it, reply to this blog with your comment then after you’ve listened to it a few more times come back and give me your comment again. It’d be interesting to see if your opinion changes as ours did the more you hear it!

I've just been hanging out not getting anything done. What can I say? I've basically been doing nothing worth mentioning, but pfft. Not that it matters. Pretty much nothing exciting happening to speak of. I haven't been up to much these days.

Hi Aled,

I agree with Chris that it was a very relaxed, chilled-out interview. The song is not bad, but a little weird. It's quite deliberate, like all the remake, re-formed movies when they run out of new ideas. But I think in the end people will love it as it's from Gwen Stefani and once the mv is out.

Cheers for the good work!

She did seem pretty cool on air, breast feeding isn't as awesome as it sounds to a bloke. It would have been hilarious to have tested "leak when a baby cries" theory, with gwen stefani.
