Nothing much to report. Met an ex work colleague for dinner last night. We try and meet every three months and we had a great time reminiscing about the old days. Turned out we first worked together 17 years ago! I employed her to take over my role as I moved on to other things within the company - happy days.

Today a friend of mine is 34 and I first knew him when he was just a bump - makes me feel old. Where is time going? And why so fast?

Right, off to warm up some homemade leek and potato soup.

Sitting in your garage wondering what to write (I hope you've taken your shoes off by the way)? Does this mean another book is happening? Or maybe it's the newspaper article? If I was sitting in your posh garage looking at all those posh cars my mind would be wandering too.

Thinking of Ben and hope he will make a speedy recovery now he's getting the treatment he needs. It must be a worrying time for all of you.

You're absolutely right about standing your ground. I knew something was wrong back in 2006 but was told to take cough medicine, wrap up warm, etc. I was finally diagnosed with COPD in HDU when I had heart/lung failure and was very lucky to survive. I had obviously been through the mild & moderate stages without knowing. As you say stand your ground and ask for a second opinion if not happy.

Not much happening here today, but I am taking Friday off, so today is really Thursday for me . Oh, we had lemon drizzle cake this morning, and we have Victoria sponge for this afternoon , line up with your plates at 2pm if you would like a slice.

Got some unexpected good news this morning we have done that well at work I get a payrise. Wont be booking a holiday or buying a pair of louboutins but might be able to put it to my petrol tank to get to work when the price increases. In one hand out the other.

Anyway back to work might as well earn my extra pennies....

Chris: I know you probably won't see this, because you blogged hours ago, but how fantastic for you and your team! You are all quite brilliant, and the show just keeps getting better and better - how on earth are you doing that?!

Everyone else: thank you all SO MUCH for your lovely messages for my beautiful daughter's 21st birthday. I looked at her yesterday, and thanked my lucky, lucky stars. She had a wonderful day and - before any champagne was consumed - told her Dad and me how much she loves us, and how happy she is. You just can't ask for any more than that, I don't think.

Bids: bless your grandson - glad to hear he is on the mend, but a long way to go. My daughter had pneumonia when she was very young, and for some reason the doctor did not tell us what was really wrong - he didn't want to worry us, he said, when I confronted him! You are so right - where health is concerned, we must stand our ground - we instinctively know when things are not quite right. xx

Maddy: that is good news indeed. xx I am very glad to hear everything is ok with you.

CB: well done on the pay rise - that is an achievement-and-a-half in this day and age! No matter how much it is - that is a real pat on the back. xx

Scoobs-I don't often do lists either as I would probably forget someone but Chrissie I have to say to you (who can do lists and never forgets anyone) I'm so glad that your lovely daughter had a happy 21st birthday. A daughter is a best friend for life. Not that sons are not (in case someone should read this and be offended) but with a daughter you can go shopping, chat about things other than cars, golf, etc.

Re: Chris's blogs - I think it's brilliant he still writes them - he seldom forgets the blog. I don't think it is the responsibility of anyone who writes a blog to ensure that the readers have a discussion with the writer, or that they come up with a topic that can be discussed at length. I don't read very many blogs, but the ones I do read simply put forward their own point of view, or story, with the invitation to reply and/or join in with other readers, if you want to do so. Perhaps I am misunderstanding the point of blogs.

LOL Scoobs - he's also exhausting! I can't wait until he's had all the jabs so I can take him out proper and let him run off some of his energy. I know "they" recommend short 5 minute walks initially, but he's got so much energy - I've been scratched, dribbled on and nibbled but he is lovely!


I admire Chris for coming up with a blog almost every day. I'm struggling with mine at the mo (business one). I've also got to write a blog for a client and it's not as easy as it sounds.

Maddy: hiya - I was just checking that my post had gone through, and I saw your lovely message to me - thank you. xx I have been told by some lovely people - who I know through this very blog - who have said to me: your daughter will be a friend for life. In the dark days of tantrums, staying out late, not even coming home at all (and that was just me!) I thought that couldn't be true. I am lucky beyond words, and I do know that.

Thank you, too, I really do try to remember everyone in the lists, but I know I do fail sometimes! xx

Re Chris's blog-I've mentioned this here in the past that I started to post on a well known duo's blog but quickly got fed up with it because although they do very long blogs they only appear once in a while and replies have to be kept very short.

Evening all, have to agree with some of the comments re the dwindling blog, it's nice when there's something that we can get our teeth into! Maybe Chris has to save his best stuff for his column?

I'm suffering from a bit of writer's block myself. Since the autumn I've been going to evening classes to learn Catalan. I'm already fluent-ish in Spanish and love going to Cataluña so thought I'd challenge myself. Anyhow there is a writing competition to mark St George's day (which also happens to be the patron saint of Cataluña as well as England) and I can't think what to write about!

Hope everyone is well, Annie you better start saving now for the big C with all those grandchildren!!
