On The Road, But Not In A Kerouac Way.

Chris Evans | 12:08 UK time, Friday, 12 February 2010

In convoy after a meet at Reading Services with "The Boys" for the rugger-bee.

The M4 Westbound warming up nicely with a couple of hundred or so obvious boys weekend vehicles.

Dirty driving though - all cars, ruger-bee or otherwise, grotesquely grimy in that wintry way - where white cars seem to turn black, whilst black cars seem to turn white.

My last admission of anything healthy for the next two days has just passed my lips. Grapes and an on-the-move salad.

From here on in, it's brown food only, ale and wine. We know we're going to feel dreadful at as a result come Sunday, but it never stops us...does it ?

So two o'clock kick off tomorrow, and see you on the pitch at half time making a complete fool of myself AGAIN - as a result of agreeing to "have a go" at something else I am utterly useless at.

Bon weekend tout le monde.

    Hi Chris

I don't understand rugby, but do enjoy watching it for some strange reason. Oh, and I quite like the corporate hospitality that goes with it too ...

Have a great time with the boys.

Hello everyone else - hope your Fridays are short and your weekends long.

Chrissie, laughing at your description of your talented sister !

GM, glad your mum is on the right side of things.

Clodagh, enjoy your weekend, my MIL is exactly the same if its any consolation !

Off to the city centre this weekend to celebrate the Chinese New Year, must check the t'int to ensure i have the right day. We got there a week late last year !

Back from town, nails done, shopping done - fridge, freezer and (most importantly) wine rack all full up again.

Chris, enjoy the rugger and the weekend of "brown" food (altho that sounds not very nice to me, to be honest!)

This afternoon I shall be mainly sorting stuff out. As you do!

mtd: I keep meaning to say to you - on Chris's show every morning, when he plays "how do you like your eggs in the morning?" - I know you weren't too keen on this. I was saying this to MrS and he said that you should join in with him - he always sings "I like mine when I'm p*ssed"! It might help!

Afternoon all. Just coming up for air in what has been a really busy week. I've been lurking though and you've all been making me laugh so thanks for that.

Chris - please don't do that thing that toddlers do when they take a great big run up, kick wildly, miss the ball and fall over backwards.

Uncle Carl and Miss P I have been loving your gameshow suggestions. In an effort to try to get a few more out of you, here's one:

We bring the lovely Una Stubbs and Lionel Blair out of retirement. In an intellectual cut above the usual gameshow they have to mime to their teams the location of famous chimneys from around the world.

It's called Give Us A Flue.

    xx

  • Comment number 23.

Obama - loving your work :-)

I've decided to broaden my horizons to more serious programming and with an election coming up, it's the perfect time.

Politicians have two minutes to present their policies to a specially-invited audience, while sitting in a gunge tank. If the audience aren't happy with what they're hearing, the politician gets gunged.

It's called Question Slime (which works on so many levels....)

  • Comment number 24.

Unc - the best one yet!

    Afternoon each

Also coming up for air which after reading the game show suggestions is difficult as i`m laughing too much!

CLP - have a great day! Will cloudplus to watch on Sunday, hope you AND the lovely Jonny manage it!

My week in summary... made the Mushroom Strog was yummy(thanks MissP for the recipe!), and work.

But..have `Stomp` to look forward to tomorrow night followed by breakfast in bed on Sunday so i`m told..who am i to disagree?!

GM -hope the news re your mum is positive today x

P.S. PLEASE can I come on and pull the lever for the gunge tank?

  • Comment number 29.

Carl - Genius. Can we have Gordon Brown first please?

    Nic

  • Comment number 30.

Sorry Nic - Nick Griffin is up first. It's a special edition where the audience gets to select the contents of the gunge tank....

  • Comment number 31.

Carl - Maybe each member of the audience could give their own personal contribution to said tank? I think GB is a greater threat to the nation's well being than NG, personally...

    Nic

  • Comment number 32.

    Howzabout this one .....

Two teams of Z-list celebs have to trawl the streets of our inner-cities and seek out the grubbiest, most unkept, down-at-heel vagrants, then give them a spruce up in front of a live TV audience ....

A `celebrity' stands in front of a panel consisting of Simon Cowell, Craig Revell-Horwood, Jason Gardiner and Nigel Lythgoe. The panel then complete aaginst each other to come up with the most cuttingly-accurate, withering putdowns.

In order to combine the nation's love of rugby and its passion for ballroom and latin routines I suggest the 91Èȱ¬ gives serious thought to a one-off special:

    Strictly Scrum Dancing.

Those New Zealand boys with their haka will quake in the face of our morris dancing.

    x

  • Comment number 39.

    Obama -brilliant!

We can take that idea forward and have a show where various food items are `fed' into a scrimmage and the two teams vie to eat them.

    Scrum Dine With Me.

About to track down somewhere to get some €'s from, as no doubt the PO will be heaving tomorrow...

Oh, and Mr JG has finally reminded his Mum that she's stopping here with Finlay, and that's all sorted! I just need to remember to pick her up on the way home on Wednesday night....

Nothing like leaving it all until the last minute! LOL

Mum not to bad today, sat in chair, although she is pain free at moment think that might change when they switch off the morphine! but the best news was they didn't need to fit a 'bag' which she was dreading so onwards n upwards :)

I have to sat though that there might be a compromise to be made regards Le Tour Eiffel (sp?) there are lifts to the first level (top of the four legs) which still afford you incredible views of Paris.
It's very stable and secure feeling and the rewards may offset the anguish.
Do not go to the top though!
Also - go early or late but not at peak. I know it is wrong to generalise but I have never experienced more rude people than when in Paris. To the point where I once held a group of students away from the lift while an old man got in with two children only to be given a filthy look by him!!!!

Gingembre - great news for you and us as far as I'm concerned. Well earned mate.

Dreamurdream - hope you are feeling happier now. Come back and impart sone wisdom please. I need all that I can get!

To everyone else - have a great weekend

    Rips

Rips, thanks for the advice, Mr JG has already ruled out me going to the top on account of having to deal with the quivering wreck he had to deal with on the London Eye!

He's said he'll do a "risk assessment" when he gets there (bloody engineers!) and decide whether he can cope with me at the first level...it won't be pretty...I'm a feet firmly placed on the ground type person!

MTF, you are fine as you are, I've just had too much wine! Hope your pizza turns out OK!

JG - It's worth doing the first level. From there on you just get the same view from a higher perspective.

Watch out for the dog poo!

We were thinking of attempting the Arc de Triomphe, so that way we got the Eiffel tower in the view as well, and it seems a bit sturdier...and like it's been there even longer...

You will never guess how much my palms are twitching just thinking and typing about this!

Yep, been warned about the dog poo and the queue jumpers....and teh prices!

LMAO at Finlay, he wants to get down as Mr JG well and truly asleep and kicking about with his legs, but poor dog daren't! Better rescue him!

In my dreams Bridge, in my dreams!

I should be going to the Ireland match though which for me is the big one this year.

Chris and I do have one thing in common though - wives that aren't against us going out and enjoying ourselves.
Not easy to find if my friends are anything to go by!!!
