Wiley ft. Chew Fu - 'Take That'
Pop songs have many different jobs. Some are there to be a balm for the soul, some make you feel frisky, some are there to make you think, some are a vent for rage or frustration. And some are there simply to WAKE YOU UP.
This achieves that last goal admirably. Imagine the kind of productivity spurt you'd have if you set this as the alarm sound on whatever impressive alarm clock technology you have in your bedroom? You'd be up and dressed and halfway down your things-to-do list before Wiley gets to mention the Bedford nightclub in which he spotted one of Take That.
And I mean the FIRST time he mentions it, not the second. That's how effective a wake up call this is.
(. Don't watch it under a flourescent overhead light, you'll have a migraine.)
There are many things which conspire to create this startling aural smack in the chops: Synths which sound like a Formula 1 race car engine made of wasps. A stuttering production which must have come from recording the song on a broken laptop in the rain. The suspicion that someone in Team Wiley has been eyeing 'Bonkers' with a jealous eye, and want to make the same sort of thing, only louder and messier.
Then there's the fact that it's a song which fractures itself so effectively at the end that if you loop it, it's hard to remember where the beginning is. And the lyrics which protest a little bit too much, as if Wiley has had to listen to too much chat about his career stalling compared to certain other MCs from the grime scene who have now become household names, and has clearly taken it all to heart.
Lots to get your teeth into, y'see. Although you might want to wait until you've cleaned them first, which will have happened just before Wiley starts ranting about having the formula. Again, the first time.
Now all that we need is for Gary Barlow and co to come out with a suitably soft-rockin' reply song. 'It Only Takes A Wiley', perhaps?

It's the fire , anger , articulation and outright bombast of Wiley's vocal delivery that holds you entranced .
Couple the hooks of the lyrics , with the in your face instrumentation and you have a song which jumps out of the speakers like that girl from the television set in horror film "The Ring " , and demands your attention !
This song has so many hooks , it's like a Peter Pan convention !
" If anyone thinks I can't do it anymore , they better stand right back and Take That ! "
" I got the formula and I'll rain/reign on all of ya ! "
Hey either meaning works in my head. This guy is NOT going away ! He will NOT be forgotten , he will NOT go quietly.
This song lists his past successes but very much screams, THIS IS NOW , and I AM BACK !
This is a HUGE single , and will allow Wiley to buy another Rolex .
(Just be careful , of the sexy girls with persuasive powers , who are like magpies for expensive timepieces this time Sir ! )
A fantastic single.
Anyone danced to this yet ?
Heard it in a nightclub at full volume ?
Watched the clubbers reaction ?
Big , big , big !

Not sure if this song is better than Bonkers, I'd have to listen to them next to each other to decide but it's definately up there. 5 star song all the way - 10 TEN HIT FOR SURE. TAKE THAT

I've not actually heard it on a night out yet - maybe I'll like it then, but I can't stand it being played during the day time. Same with Riverside by Sidney Samson, that is strictly a club song in my opinion and it just isn't as good without the expletive.

It's a song you hear , and if you like it , one you have got to have in your life , immediately .
Also , the record company released it on the 28th of December , right at the moment in time where new releases can be overlooked by people with busy lives at that time of year , so it did not have a clear promotion and marketing campaign.
It's still a great song though !

Wiley's next single will be called NEVER BE YOUR WOMAN , and is his interpretation of the number 1 " Your Woman " , by White Town .
Sounds good !
