Tinchy Stryder ft Amelle Berrabah

Ah, there is nothing like the sweet euphoric rush of pop music: The tightening of the chest, the raised hairs, the goosebumps, the fizzy feeling that makes you wonder if you're about to suddenly burst into tears or out laughing, the swelling of excitement, the desire to be carried up into the clouds by the dazzling explosions of light and joy which are bouncing around inside your skull, the tingling, the restless twitchy fingers, the desire to squeal and jump up and down when you discover than someone else gets it too...

...in short, the power pop music has to take sane, calm, rational people, worm under their defenses - their cool, their snoot and their poise - using tricks which are not new or particularly clever, and force them to act like toddlers on The Sugar Rush Of All Time...well that is the thing we are all chasing. We might pretend that we want a balm for the soul, or to have our intellect tickled by wry observations, or to feel part of a People's Republic Of Rockular Togetherness, but actually, all we really need is THAT feeling, and we're not too fussy where we get it from, frankly.

(. It's busy.)

That's partly why people get so angry about music they don't like, because it feels like a snub when a hot new song comes out and it doesn't take you anywhere. You're left thinking "what's wrong with me? Don't I DESERVE the fun I can see other people are getting? Why won't you give me The Fun, *insert name of least favourite pop star here*, WHY??"

So, without meaning to rub anyone's noses in the fact that I am clearly one of this song's Chosen People, and you possibly may not be, here's your toddler review...

OMGOMGOMG! This is like, AMAZING!!!! Like, what an EPIC PRODUCTION!!! It's sort of got that enormous, over-emotional 'Battlefield' thing going on, yeah? But with beats!!! THAT IS SO CLEVER, TINCHY STRYDER!! And don't people notice that Amelle is brilliant more often? She's got to be the best Sugababe who ever lived!!!! SRSLY!!! I mean I liked 'Number One' well enough...it had N-Dubz on it...I LOVE N-DUBZ..."nah nah NAIII", right? HAHAHahahah! But this is in a WHOLE OTHER LEAGUE!!! IT'S OVERWHELMING!!!!

I mean, WHY DO PEOPLE NOT MAKE MORE SONGS LIKE THIS? WHY? WHYYYY?? I NEED MORE OF THIS IN MY LIFE!!!

*five long, shouty hours later*

Zzzzzz...

Nice combination I rally love their song.

Well Tinchy's gone top 3 , with Taio Cruz , and to number one with Number One with N-Dubz.

Never Leave You is another uplifting slice of commercial pop , which in my opinion will enter the U.K singles charts in one of the top three positions in 8 days time.

Amelle carries the chorus with aplomb , and the chemistry between the two voices on this track , work in absolute pop heaven.

    A top 3 hit !

  • Comment number 3.

    I agree with thespiritwarrior :) x

  • Comment number 4.

It should get top three coz its better than take me back and almost as good as number 1 so ... but i don't think it'll go number 1 coz Black Eyed Peas r gonna stick there for a few weeks i reckon. I hate that trak so much i gotta feeling ''huh!'

  • Comment number 5.

But has anyone seen how gorgeous Amelle looks in the new Sugababe's vid for Get Sexy ?

    Hot ! Hot !

  • Comment number 6.

well the girl is stunning.. but i find myself feeling rather stupid as i say to myself 'well maybe it will be a grower'.. as that is not really how these kind of songs work, was expecting a more epic chorus.. like frasers description of the 'rush' though, too many scenesters rejecting their impulses..

    P.S: n-dubz working with hudson?

  • Comment number 7.

Hi Flat , Ben met up with N Dubz at the I-tunes festival , and they got on famously , so maybe something could happen in the future .

Back to N Dubz , Tulisa is reported to have turnt down a six figure sum to pose for Playboy.

Well done girl , keep focussed !

  • Comment number 8.

Anyway back to Tinchy and Amelle , does anyone else think that this song could have the commercial strength to topple the Peas ?

It is getting blanket coverage everywhere .

  • Comment number 9.

Ben is currently in Jay - Z'S recording studio in America , helping him out with some of his new album .

  • Comment number 10.

This is really Amelle's song. She does all the real work. They do not seem like a real couple. The pleas of "I will never leave" sound very false to my adult ears. However. the kids on summer holiday will make this the next number one. Soon Tinchy will probably be replaced by his East London neighbor, DIZZEE RASCAL, who has done another commercial track with CALVIN HARRIS.
A boring summer for us all then!

  • Comment number 11.

Hey Bling , you are gettin your number one predictions spot on !

  • Comment number 12.

A definite number one, but such a boring song. When Tinchy raps, it doesn't ooze anything that makes me stand up and listen, it lacks that zip, jazz whatever you call it.
Personally, I struggle with rap a bit, I do like it, but it has to be perfect delivery, as it's hard to rap well, you kind of have to be blessed with it.
In terms of the UK scene (because American rappers differ a lot from the homwgrown I find) he's got nothing on Dizzee, Wiley, Chipmunk etc.
AND I agree with BLING-BWOY about the lack of connection with Amelle. She carries herself well as a 'feat.' artist but this song is generally sub-standard. The lyrics really grind me down aswell. The 'Woah-Oh' hook is one of those that really batter my brain after a while.
But Get Sexy? I am so chuffed that the Sugababes have made a song like this! Catfights and Spotlights was just dull; I've nothing else to say as it was that, well, dead. Amelle sounds more in the zone on it compared to this track. It's yet another 'hit' that will fade pretty quickly.

I also want to pre-empt and say that Mini Viva are going to be big. That Tokyo track is great :)

  • Comment number 13.

Yep MINI-VIVA .. driving into the chart soon !

  • Comment number 14.

Yo Flat , Hudson's currently dating Cotton !

  • Comment number 15.

    "Hudson's currently dating Cotton!"

How do you do that, do you use some kind of radioactive marker with a short half life?

  • Comment number 16.

    Boom !

    Straight into number 1 !

The number one predictions keep coming .

Back on the JLS posts , I they would go number one , then the next number ones would be

    Black eyed peas
    Tinchy
    Calvin Harris
    Dizzee Rascal..

Next Sundays number one will be between Tinchy and Calvin.. ( a challenge could also come from Mr . Andre ) and then I think Dizzee Rascal will claim the top honours..

    It's gonna be excitin.. !

  • Comment number 17.

I think you're spot on. Dizzee's track for me is a bit below par though, gets a bit boring after the brand new sheen wears off.
