This is growing on me. The song is good, Ben's voice is good. And it will indeed be a top five hit.

Fraser, you're a bit late with this aren't you? The rest of us have been forced to listen to some weirdo raving on about this song for months :P

But yeah, it is a very good song.

This is a great , great song.
As soon as I heard it , I just knew that in time it would be a huge hit !

I think my first mention of this song was on May 22nd on the Little Boots review for "New in town ".

Everything works in this song , the structure , the build up , the momentum , the melody and of course , most importantly of all , the huge , memorable chorus , which is the centrepoint of the song .

When Kanye first heard this song , many moons ago , he knew it was special ! He wanted to be involved.
His input has been very successful in bringing added interest to an excellent song , and the talent of Ben Hudson. (Kanye , you sure know a tune ! )

I have stirred interest in this song everywhere for the last few months , because it's one of those that enthralled me from day one...

Kanye West and Mr Hudson never made the top 40 with their last single "Paranoid " , but expect "Supernova " to go top 20 , or even be a top 10 hit.

Good tune, one of my favourites at the moment. Improved massively by the presence of Kanye West, though I'm glad he is singing with auto tune instead of rapping because it just wouldn't go.

I am waiting for Kanye to release another rap album though! Or even just a single. Please!!!!

Kanye is one of the best rappers in the world !

It is well documented why he had to write " 808's and Heartbreak " , given life's slings and arrows of outrageous mis-fortune , and all his followers understood that it was something he HAD to do .

His input on " Supernova " and " Knock you down " is stellar and immense , and I wish him great songs and success for the future.

Fraser - don't you ever have anything nice to say? Or does it help your own failure as a musician to bitch about other people?

Did anyone see this performed live on Alan Carr? I have to say that Mr. Hudson did some very dodgy singing, which was disappointing. Very bad interview on Alan's part as well. (They talked about masturbation for Christ's sake!!!)

Also on a side topic , if all the world's singers had to be technically perfect , a lot of personality and great songs in music would be lost .
A lot of people ( like Kanye ) are not gonna win X - Factor by singing perfectly .

In music , this is where character , songs and innovation comes in !

Fraser, are you really a love rat? That must take dedication or maybe you just misheard the Cure song and then in order to avoid looking foolish had to take on the persona for the next fifteen years. I personally am a love marmoset.

Just to add to this discussion: the problem for me with Kanye West is that since he is indeed driving around California in a Ferrari, his songs and lyrics are extremely unlikely to touch upon any of my interests or concerns. I have no interest in listening to him drivelling on about his job, which is basically what most of his songs are about. (Insert obvious Smiths quote here).

You may need to listen to all of Kanye's albums , and then realise that all of his songs are definitely not about his job . There is a lot of happy , but also alot of pain in his words .

These are all quite varied and personal songs , that show a lyrical depth and skill that illustrate varying emotions , and very far from driving a Ferrari in the sunshine.

The album version of "Diamonds " with Jay Z , shows huge lyrical awareness of a harrowing subject .

To me " The college drop out " is an outstanding album , that spoke to me on so many levels .

Kanye , to my mind is quite rightly revered in many ,many quarters , as being one of the outstanding talents in the rap world .

AKA and Captain tune , (love the name ) , any chance of a link to all these "shadowy " goings on that a lot of the fan club may have missed ?

I know what you mean . I know lots of people , who for whatever reason , do not like certain types or styles of music.

I personally ,have always tried to embrace every genre of music , and have tried to learn the excellent , and the not so excellent qualities of each one .

I am always learning , and try to listen to as much quality as possible .

I always try to write with a love of good music in my heart , and an appreciation of peoples efforts in my mind .

Certainly in the rap field , Mr West is a black belt !

I wish I had some kind of monetary consideration for every time I read someone on a reviews comment board whining that someone shouldn't give a low mark or give a poor review to something "because they couldn't do any better".

You know what? Since I'm not a musician, I'm never going openly dislike any piece of music I hear ever again. I'm also not much of a cook, so I guess that means if I have a bad meal at a restaurant, well, I'll just have to lump it. Come to think of it, I'm certainly not much good with any of the trades, so if I ever get some dodgy work done by a builder, joiner, plumber or decorator, well, I guess I'll just have to take what I get. After all, if I can't do any better, then what right do I have to an opinion, eh? Forget the fact that I'm a consumer - utterly irrelevant.

AKA, or whatever you're calling yourself now, do you understand what reviews are, and why people write and read them? If you do, and you think reviewers' opinions are irrelevant if they're not great musicians themselves, then great, I understand your logic. But then why are you in the "reviews" section of ChartBlog?

Some other questions:

Precisely what does Kanye West's material wealth have to do with the merits of his musical output?

Doesn't the sheer number of 4 and 5 star reviews this blog gives out indicate that the reviewers DO like pop music?

Does criticising Kanye's singing voice really qualify as "slating" him, considering in the same paragraph Fraser refers to it as part of his "good journey" as an artist?

Seriously though , I have had a while to think this over , and I don't want to read personal stuff about people.

For me , it's all about the music , and I am very passionate about it , as you all know, and I love reading constructive and relevant opinions.

So getting back to the song and the wonder that is "Supernova " ,which I have bigged up for the last few months of my life , expect it to fly into the top ten , and I will certainly be getting the champagne out , when it does !

Loads of people are now loving this song , and I feel proud that it's success will soon be recognised.

Supernova is so going on my ipod, it's a lovely song and my favourite line is "I wanna break up the scene and see you running back to me". Oh, and I love the ending.

Oh by the way guys, I just listened to this and yes Kanye can't sing but his voice sounds OK here, and it's a good contrast to Mr Hudsons because it sounds sort of... damaged, in a good way, whereas Mr Hudsons is too perfect and would be quite annoying on its own.

Those who think Kanye West is a good rapper are obviously new rap fans; they must have missed out on the classic rap from 1979 to 1995. This is all before Eminem ruined the industry. Why was this record made? If Kanye was from New York he would not have taken up rap, he might be a postman or a refuse collector. Who is Mr Hudson, Kanye's hygienist? He does not look good in a rap video. What is the music industry coming to? This is an awful start to the summer holiday, this may be why kids join gangs, because the music industry gives them nothing to enjoy. When I was at school, music inspired you and took you to a better place. This does not.
