Jay Sean - 'Tonight'
OK, before we get into talking about the relative merits of the song itself, would you mind taking a quick look at the video? It's just there are some interesting things going on here and we're going to need to think about them a bit. Don't worry, it won't take long, and it could be beneficial. In fact, the future of popular music as we know it could well depend on our scientific findings.
Although, to be fair, it probably will not.
So, having seen it, ask yourself the following questions:
What kind of club is this, exactly? It seems to be a very private, member's only affair which is part ballet school (painted white), and part photographic dark-room. And someone has clearly attached some kind of glitter cannon to the ceiling, and stuck a whole load of mirrors up, so you can see the back of your own head, in green infinite mirrorspace.
Oh, and there's some kind of laser light show going on too, which is probably just as well, because once those women realise that Jay is the only man who has been allowed in (for reasons which aren't exactly clear. Maybe he is the owner?) they're probably going to want to continue the rest of the girls' night out in a place with a more relaxed door policy.
That said, there are a lot of motorbikes parked outside, so maybe it's a kind of high-class biker club, for girls only. No boots, no greasy jeans, no spanners.
Thinking about it, it's definitely Jay's club. Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to change out of his leathers and into his suit. Plus the look he gives the lady who opens the door is pure "never mind the door, have you filed those tax returns yet? HAVE YOU? Now, fetch my best dancing shirt..."
See? I told you it would be interesting. Now, here's what needs to be said about the song.
It's a nice song, this.
Ta-ta for now!
