Only The Pony...
The root of a good relationship is talking, right? I mean it's easy to assume that someone hates you or that you hate them, when both sides are walking about carrying false impressions about the other in their heads. So when I read that New Young Pony Club were fed up about the lack of radio play for their new single 'Ice Cream', and that they were under the impression that this was in some way related to the success of not-massively-similar new rave ladyband CSS, well I just had to get their singer Tahita on the phone to try and build a few bridges.
What I Expected: A little bit of good-humoured Radio 1 chippiness. No-one likes feeling left out...some kind of manifesto for youth and freshness in horses...perhaps a few words about how nice ice-cream is...
What I Did Not Expect: An early appearance from Albert Einstein...tales of unrequited love, and the possibility that Alex Turner might be the the person to fix things...the Enemy and the View don't come off too well, mind...

New Young Pony Club's Ice Cream has been on the advert for Intel Core Duo for ages and its absoultely brilliant. I think they warrant a lot more air play than they're getting at the moment.
Icecream is a wicked track as is The Bomb and surely should be getting more air play than it is. Come on radio 1!
I would agree with the new young pony club there does seem to be an unreasonable reluctance by radio 1 to play them despite their undeniable popularity
