Scouting For Girls - 'It's Not About You'
It's just as well songs aren't like animals which have been bred for fighting. Because if songs WERE like animals bred for fighting, you could put 'It's Not About You' in a ring with McFly's 'It's All ABout You', and they would end up tearing massive chunks out of each other, before finally having to be torn apart and put back in their cages, while a team of ringside judges decide that in the final analysis, SOME of 'it' is 'about you', but by no means all of it.
So, if this song isn't a ravenous bulldog with McFly in its sights, what IS it?
Well, with more than a touch of the Lilies, the Garfunkels, and the Get Capes, a little radio-friendly Feeling, it's yer tuneful pop-rock kind of song, albeit one which leaves you with the bizarre feeling that it could be a great Killers anthem, if it were beefed up with some hefty synths. Newcomers Scouting For Girls hail from fancy London town, but luckily haven't signed up the usual London musical mantra of three chords, bashed out whilst singing out of tune.
Nope, Scouting For Girls are truly winsome - their singer's a sensitive-looking chap called Roy who wears shirts, and they've got an ear for a melody (remember what they are, kids?) which Keane would be proud of, while professing their love for a girl via the means of vocal harmonies.
It might not be the most enthralling thing you've ever heard, but for a first effort, it's definitely worth a badge on yer woggled scarf.

This song is soo sweet. Within two seconds of hearing it the first time round I fell in love with it; it's catchy, light-hearted indie pop at it's best. I can understand what you're getting at comparing them to The Feeling: they do extactly the same sort of thing!
