Avril and her backing singer

Does anyone else remember a time before Avril Lavigne? I wonder what the world can have been like, all those days ago? I mean, can you picture an era when Avril's return to the world of music was merely idle gossip, coming from a hint of a whisper of a rumour? No, me neither. And now it's like she's taken over the world...OK, the ChartBlog world...but that's the same thing, right?

RIGHT?

Anyway, yesterday Avril came to the Radio 1 studios to rock out in front of a tiny audience. One of whom was ChartBlog reporter Sophie W. Here's her special report:

========================================

From rocking out at Wembley, to modelling a pretty impressive rock on her finger (clever wording, huh?), Avril has come a long way in a few short years. Chartblog joined a RIDICULOUSLY lucky group of fans (including competition winners Amy Holder and Paige Wilson - see pic) for an intimate set at the Maida Vale studio.

Amy and Paige

It was all pretty darn exciting! There was 35 of us, stood in a small recording studio overlooking Avril and her circle of band members, and we were all bopping about to the likes of 'Sk8r Boi', 'I'm With You' and new single 'Girlfriend'.

Despite the exciting new sound, she's still the same little person with the big voice and BIGGER attitude. This means there's plenty of fun and games to pick up on. Here's a ground breaking discoveries I can EXCLUSIVELY REVEAL...

Discovery Number 1:
Avril is not a fan of cinnamon tea. It seems she tried it, didn’t like it, and left to get a normal cuppa. But! She DOES like cinnamon when it is on food. Are you writing all this down?

Discovery Number 2:
All this marriage and grown up stuff seems to be taking its toll and making her mature a tad quicker than we had hoped. At Avril's extremely ripe age - 22 - she's already suffering from memory loss. In extreme circumstances, this makes her forget lyrics.

Not to worry too much though, she comes well prepared with a nice organised folder of all her words for when her she goes blank and is always armed with the old excuse about her lyrics having been recently changed, should anyone mock. Not that anyone would DARE.

Avril's mic standDiscovery Number 3:
Fluorescent pink, customized mike stands are AWESOME.

Discovery Number 4:
Avril has the moves! No more head nodding, it's all about the pointy toes and jazz hands now! Well maybe that's a bit far, but there were some definite coordinated moments happening with her backing singers.

Discovery Number 5:
Marital gossip is not her favourite talking point. It makes her squirm. JK & Joel, that means YOU.

Discovery Number 6:
Our competition winner Paige was so overwhelmed at finally meeting the woman she calls "my idol" that she burst into tears, shortly after this picture was taken. Awww...

And in the interests of fairness, here's Amy, our other competition winner, with some woman or other...

Avril and Amy

Discovery Number 7:
She carries a customized Barbie complete with skinny jeans and converse. Apparently it's her lucky mascot.

(OK, maybe number 7 isn't strictly true, but wouldn't it be BRILLIANT if it was?)

    There U go, Sophie W.

There is a book and film Sophie's Choice written by William Styron, but that's another story.

I went to a pub yesterday and saw a load of friends and the TV screen showed Spurs losing to Chelsea in an FA Cup game. After blog & blag
(my comments to Fraser M 18/3/2007), I had an obligatory half pint of lager and the others drunk a load more but there was no swearing or spitting. But behind me some jerk, from recall with a US flag on the back of his jacket, seemingly nothing to do with the soccer game went berserk and started banging on the table and breaking beer glasses. I returned home some time later and read your review etc. Page or now Paige Street there is the John Laing builders and looking at the postcode you see NW7 2ER and the Canada Villa (18/3/2007) one displays Pursley Road London NW7 2BU, 7-2 a common factor, 27 & 2-7 last to OCR 14/3/2007. Ah! these natives of these localities, don't know what they do and it could be the "idiots" who worked at Laings and there might be a Keith in there somewhere, and even someone closely related.

Good show, JK & Joel but some of your lines of questioning to Avril about Derryck were perhaps a bit crude, and could be considered in line for a legal action.
