The Zutons - 'It's The Little Things We Do'
Ah, I see what you're doing there, you lot. You've got everyone so mixed up in that wibbly-wobbly world of your own - the one in which West Side Story, the '60s beat group boom and some blues grunter all get to play ring-a-rosie with the happy tension of a man on the edge of being tickled into a nervous breakdown - that you think no-one's gonna spot the fact that you keep putting out anagrams of the same song. Devious!
And to compound the nastiness of the trick, you've even got us poor reviewers feeling guilty at pointing out that which seems so blindingly obvious now the magic moptop dust has fallen from our eyes. It's like making a Magic Number cry or something, you can take no pride in it.
Specially not when, despite the incredible similarity to every other blimming song your band have ever breathed life into, the humble listener finds themself getting carried along into the heart of the band's sweaty hangover madness AGAIN. Could it be that the rest of the indie world's inability to master simple dynamic tricks like just letting the drummer play for a bit, or everyone playing the same thing for a bit is making you lot seem like the Gods of Musical Cleverness?
Well, obviously not, but it could account for why you are good and not sucky. Now, would it kill you to try something else next time?
