The Inn Mates was sharp, witty and had some great laugh-out-loud visual moments. I hope a full series is forthcoming.

My first thought was this is no good when I saw the Shep flowers and then the Bernard/ Stanley Matthews ham and turkey joke but first impressions can be deceptive, so I carried on and watched another three minutes.

Perhaps a stab at all three? I hope it does well with 91Èȱ¬ viewers, but not for me I'm afraid.

I got an unfriendly largesse from a 2 dimensional cast, resultant from a mongrel script.

I only watched five minutes though.

Average same old same old sitcom about a bunch of 20 somethings really. Nothing new in the format, but still an enjoyable watch if you like that sort of thing.

I'm sorry. I was sure the word sitcom implies there will be some comedy involved. But they seem to have left that bit out. Cliched characters and no punchlines. Very disappointing indeed. I want those 30 minutes of my life back, please.

As a keen overseas watcher of Beeb comedies, I found this above average but feel that we've been here before. Echoes of Two Pints, Friends, Phoenix Nights...nice to have no laugh-track. I'd recommend a six episode run and see if the characters have somewhere to go in order to keep viewer interest.

Incredible. A cast with the chemistry and charm that Friends took ten years to achieve, a script with the wit of Seinfeld at its peak, and directed with the flair and invention of 30 Rock. I already look forward to series 2, let alone series 1.

Should add in fairness, an incredible coup from bbc3, having a big name -sitcom favourite, like the bankrupt Neil Morrisey to star.

They have done well getting him.

I just don't see what's funny about a smelly little alcoholic slapper, is it just me, or does anyone agree that this is not what we want to see touted? Especially since we all have known those tragic characters, so many of whom end up commuting suicide or choking on puke. The whole 'E' thing is 10-15 years too late and the last joke attempt was a straight rip from Spaced, when 'Tyres' trip danced at a pelican crossing. A couple of funny moments. 2 out of 10. Maybe, just maybe Generation Z too young for this material, will love it and also aspire to be alcies and pill poppers.

I thought it was a pretty good first episode, laughed a few times and think there is definitely something there in the writing. No way near as cringey as Two Pints or Grownups. Writer maybe needs to reign in the cliches a bit. Would definitely like to see more though

Oh I get it now! It’s about friendship and the name of the pub is ‘The Friendship Inn’ and the show is called ‘Inn Mates’ and they’re all mates in an Inn and they’re all sleeping with each other so you could say they’re all ‘in’ each other hopefully wearing a condom...‘Mates’ of course. Oh Brother these subliminal messages are so hard to get!
I’m sure that there are many aspiring sitcom writers out there who, like me, have just watched this episode of ‘Inn Mates’ in total and utter disbelief.
It manages to ignore every single piece of advice given, to aspiring sitcom writers, on the 91Èȱ¬ Writers Room website.
How do the Writers Room professionals have the nerve to proffer advice on sitcom writing and then sit back and watch the 91Èȱ¬ produce this utter trash?
Your sitcom should be original they say, characters should ‘leap off the page’, ‘surprise your reader’, ‘start funny’, ‘engage the reader/viewer emotionally’ etc etc.
The 91Èȱ¬ Writers Room will only read the first ten pages of an unsolicited sitcom script and will judge it on that basis. More often than not the script will be sent back to the writer without comment. On that basis, how did ‘Inn Mates’ get a full script read, let alone get produced? I’m aware that it didn’t go through the Writers Room process but still; it was neither funny nor engaging.
How can an aspiring sitcom writer take the advice of the 91Èȱ¬ Writers Room seriously when this is the kind of clichéd, unoriginal, crass, teenage-audience-chasing, unfunny rubbish that gets produced?
That said, I’m sure that John Warburton must be thrilled to see his sitcom produced; I’m green with envy...I only hope the scraping of the bottom of the barrel doesn’t keep him awake at night.

In my oppinion although this had maybe one or two funny moments and a few likable characters (Chiz and Kaney, but only really for the awww factor of their naivety) it probably isn't going to work as a sitcom. From unfunny to blatantly stolen jokes, and characters that to be fair after 5 minutes just grated on your last nerve it's just not great. Saying that as I stated before it had the odd moment, but needs a LOT of work before even considering it for a series.

hopefully if they make anymore it will get better as i thought this episode was a bit poor

I'm very proud of myself. I managed to suffer ten minutes of this rubbish before giving up.

How on earth did this get made? unoriginal, repackaged rubbish that just isnt remotely funny. Fairly sure i must be due at least a part refund of my tv license fee for the bit that was spent on this?

I watched this new comedy 'Inn mates' on bbciplayer the other night, I was pleasantly suprised and really enjoyed it! I love cliche stereotypes in comedy, I think these kind of sitcoms make lifes problems so much easier to laugh at, wich is the only thing left sometimes when things get you down. Good on you John Warburton! We need more working class stereotype comedys out there to give us all a giggle. Thanx! Look forward to more of the same! Jules xx

Good laugh at the end with the car alarm techno joke but there really should be a credit for Viz - this is a straight steal from Ravey Davey Gravy

Just watched Inn Mates and wasn't really very impressed.

That characters weren't very likable, and most seemed to literally have nothing to their lives above drinking and sex, so I just ended up feeling more depressed that amused. All seemed to have personalities that could be summed up in one or two words, and no indication of any real depth or motivation.

Then it just seemed to resort to nudity and 'hahadrunk' acting and someone throwing a bag of urine around.

I enjoyed Stanley Park as a 'young people's comedy' but this seems to be a similar idea with all the life sucked out of it.

Sorry 91Èȱ¬, not as bad as Coming of Age, but really not worth a series.

I expected very little from Inn Mates, but I thought it had some very, very funny moments indeed. Yes, it was occasionally crude, and I suppose one or two of the gags were a little clumsy and forced, but the acting was very good, with the cast showing a real comedic strength. Neil Morrissey's understated performance and Joe Tracini's straight-faced lunacy were particular highlights. In addition, Liam Garrigan is very easy on the eye!

Clearly there is potential for ongoing story-lines and further interaction and development of characters.

A full series please!

I found the show fantansic and funny,I like the use of both old actors Ive seen before on the 91Èȱ¬,but also new up and coming actors.The jokes appealed to me,and I would feel all others of a teenage audience,Please 91Èȱ¬ carry on with this series!
