Can someone explain the Torchwood thing? Is it one clip looped on all of the days? Or is it all new content? Or a mixture of the two?

Ie, just recording one of the days' stream on Freeview, will that cover everything that will be broadcast anywhere, or is there lots more content?

  • Comment number 2.

Are there any signs of any progress being made on improving the service on Freeview and at least reinstating one stream. Although it may require some work it can not be that big a leap to add one extra video stream to the 91热爆 mux when at the moment the 91热爆 offer only 7 whilst the ITV/C4 mux has 8 and the other muxes have 9 or 10, plus radio channels.

Yes, quality may need to be compromised on some channels but the benefit of the extra channel far outweighs a barely noticeable lowering of picture quality, and yes the 91热爆 have regional issues complicating things (but the ITV/C4 mux and old C5/S4C mux are regionalised too!) but where there is a will there's a way - and us Freeview folk are being shortchanged by the 91热爆 at the moment.

Indeed by my amatuer ill-informed calculatons I think the 91热爆 could offer four interactive streams for 2012 if they pulled their finger out, using the existing 301, the reinstated 302, 91热爆 Parliament and then removing some radio channels for the period as they do for 91热爆 Alba to create a fourth for the games themselves.

Along with coverage on 91热爆1 and 91热爆2/3 that would create up to six streams on Freeview, which is on a par with the current service on Sky/Cable. It is wishful thinking perhaps, but something the 91热爆 could work towards if they didn't treat us Freeview folk as second class licence fee payers.

I remember saying exactly the same thing last year but using 301 for The Open Leaderboard is such a waste of a stream when it could be used for alternative video instead. The Leaderboard info can be delivered in text form - and indeed it still is, though hidden away on the third or fourth page of the Golf menu. When events had dedicated applications it was easy to find from the main menu, and delivered in such a way the picture remained in 1/4 screen without having to an extra video stream on it.

  • Comment number 4.

damn too bad I missed this already. Wish I could have seen Torchwood during the sneak peaks. Did anyone here get a chance to see it? How was it?
