Is the little bit of dialogue from Seven Years in Tibet. Love the show!

My cats a big fan ;)

BTW that was really hard to do, I had to basically wear her down until she just couldn't be bothered to swat it off her head anymore.

Laura & Coco the cat x

    what a great cat photo!

I'm hoping Mark Thompson likes cats in hats, maybe this might just sway him! x

I absolutely love this show. The last 2 shows especially.
I was not aware of Jon Ronson before I heard this show... Or so I thought.
I saw that Stanley Kubrick documentary a couple years ago, and I agree with Adam that it is one of the most enjoyable documentaries I've ever seen, partly because I'm a huge Kubrick fan myself. Nevertheless it was a great doco.
I'll definitely be checking his other docs/books in the future.

Thanks, Buckles & Ronson, loved the show!

What a perfect show, with a perfect guest. Jon Ronson comes across as such a sweetie and I loved 2 of his song choices (Belle & Sebastian and Motorhead) good stuff!
I too thoroughly enjoyed the Kubrick doc and loved hearing about the hat test shots today!
I was thinking of posting a question for Jon regarding the dunking in Roath Park Lake but didn't want to dredge up what was clearly an upsetting memory for him. He handled the question well!
Also Adam, was excited to hear that you once lived in Cardiff by Roath Park Lake. At what stage in your career was this? Or was it pre-stardom? Did you like living in Cardiff?
Lovely choice of last song for the mix tape(Nick Drake Northern Sky). I'm under no illusions that it was because I suggested it on the blog ;) I just wanted to say it's a perfect 'new love' mix tape track and one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written.
Looking forward to next weeks show.
    Tootles!

Question for James: Do you still put 'tasty extra nuggets' in the "podmax" or is it just a condensed version of the show?

  • Comment number 8.

    Hi Adam,

I am really loving the show, each week gets better! Just one small thing, the man who says your name at the beginning of the show and podcast has the oddest way of pronouncing Buxton. Anyway, thats a stupid and pointless remark so good bye and thank you for such a good listen!

P.S is the clip from Dr Strangelove? Probably not!

    @Hannah
No I'm afraid Azrael got it right, it's from Seven Years in Tibet starring Brad Pitt. It's quite a funny line taken out of context and a funny accent too!

Yet another fine show and another fine guest. Couple of thoughts about this weeks playlist. Excellent choices of Steely Dan, Beth Orton, Flight Of The Conchords and Phoenix, who without a doubt are the best French group out there.
And of course, Northern Sky which is one of the five most beautiful songs ever written. I would have put it on my playlist suggestions on the previous thread but Marge Gunderson got there before me. (rats!)

Ace Of Spades? Top tune that it is most girls I've tried to seduce with a mixtape would have thought you'd queued up the wrong track. But if you really feel the need for a track to prove how tough you can be I'd suggest "This Corrosion" by The Sisters of Mercy.

My shameful "Free Nelson Mandela" confession? When it first came out we used to sing "....with every box of cornflakes," after the title line. It fits too.

    I'll get me coat.....

Hi Adam! The film clip in this week's mix tape is from Seven Years in Tibet. I love this show and NEVER want it to end (you should really get Charlie Brooker in one week to do a "staying in mix tape", or TV based mix. He would be a great guest and LOVES making playlists!) BUT I really want you to confirm a return date for your show with Joe! Can we put something in the diary please?

    I'm going now, BYE!

    Love Sarah Xx

HI Marge, I haven't put any tasty 'nuggets' in the podcast as yet but you never know for the future! It's a good plan.

  • Comment number 13.

Woah! XTC for me! Well how exciting. Wow. I’ve got nothing else to say. My mind is just a happy soup.

  • Comment number 14.

    Great show.
I miss heard Bilderberg Group as 'Build a bear' Group.
Could figure out why they'd be trying to bug anyone.

  • Comment number 15.

Thanks for the reply James...we always say yes to extra tasty nuggets!

  • Comment number 16.

    Great show.

Couldnt tell if Adam was trying to make a joke about it or that he wasnt aware that Michael Cera was in the film Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist...where he makes mix CDs.

Im afraid they somehow stole (very vaguely) your idea, 2 years before you had it. The gits.

    Adam - "Who are you?"
Jon - "I'm Jon Ronson...I veer between happiness and misery"

Adam - "Who do you do?"
Jon - "Not too many people."

That level of candidness in under a 30 seconds...Buckeroo is already the new Parkinson!

Have to say references to CO make my hackles rise, and I'd happily spend 6 months in the Mojave desert shovelling all trace of it into deep holes for the sake of humanity's collective soul. But apart from that, the chat was rilly nice.

More entertaining Ron Jonson can be found here...

Only just found these myself, but the 'How to Be Invisible' podcast is every bit as weird as it sounds. As long as you're not expecting how to literally become invisible.

I don't think 100% legal permission has been given for Monsieur Ronson to do what he likes with his own work, so keep it amongst yourselves, eh squadders?

Wonder how that sentence would look to the not-so tech savvy? *double take face*
