What is a community?
A community is a word for a group of people who have things in common.
They might live in the same area, go to the same school, do the same activities or have similar backgrounds.
What does it mean to live in a community? Learn about how we can be part of more than one.
All: Hey Ariana, come and sit here.
Max: Ariana, come and sit with us if you like, we've got chicken salad.
All: Ariana, come and play snap!
Ariana: Oh, my favourite game.
All: Come and sit with us!
Max: Ariana, come and eat if you want.

Ariana: Miss Brooks!
Miss Brooks: Hi Ariana, are you okay? You look lost.
Ariana: Oh, I don't know who to sit with. My friends from the community club, my parents, or my friends from church.
Miss Brooks: I understand, it's great that you have different groups that you can sit with. Each one of us is part of many groups or communities, like our school, neighbourhood, country, place of worship or clubs that we're in.
You see, as responsible citizens, it's good to remember that there are lots of different communities everywhere and we can belong to more than one. So, you don't have to just sit with one group all day - how about spending a little time with each one?
Ariana: Yes, that's a great idea!
Can I be in more than one community?
We can be a part of many different groups or communities at the same time.
You could be a member of a club, or live in the same neighbourhood as other people.
Being a part of different communities is a great way of making new friends, learning new things and sharing ideas.
There are lots of different communities all over the United Kingdom.
