What is a number sequence?
A number sequence is a list of numbers that is linked by a rule or pattern.
If you work out the rule, you can work out the next numbers or a missing number in the sequence.
The simplest number sequence is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5鈥nd so on.
The rule is that you add 1 each time.
Here鈥檚 another sequence. Can you spot the rule?
2, 4, 6, 8, 10鈥
The rule is that you add 2 each time. Did you spot that this sequence is the same as the 2 times table?
Sequences can go down as well as up. Can you spot the rule here?
50, 45, 40, 35, 30鈥
The rule is that you subtract 5 each time. Well done if you spotted that.
